There is a glimmer of hope in Albuquerque desert. They have a new HC by way of Idaho, that is about as honkey friendly as they come. It will be interesting to see how Jason Eck’s New Mexico teams stack up against his Idaho squads. Initial transfers in offer some promise. That being said, it’s 6 Lobos blancos this season.

OFFENSE

QB Jack Layne RJr. 6’2 205 Idaho transfer

WR Michael Buckley RJr. 6’0 180 (similar to Michael Bandy White/Hispanic mix)

RT Tyler Lawrence So. 6’4 305 Air Force transfer

DEFENSE

DE/LB Brett Karhu RSr. 6’1 230

OLB Jaxton Eck Jr. 6’1 225

FS Austin Brawley RSr. 5’11 185 Ohio transfer

UNM has started 9, 11, 9, 7, 7, 6, 7, 5, 9, 9 , 7, 5, 5, 6, 4, 9, 5 and 4 whites.

The Lobos end up with a 9-3 record. They had two standouts on defense

DE Brett Karhu - ended up with 26 total tackles, 10.5 TFL and 7 sacks. Not sure if his eligibility is over with. Looks like he wasted a year at Memphis last season. He dominated at D-2 Oklahoma Baptist.

LB Jaxton Eck was a tackling machine this year - 126 total tackles, 64 solo, 62 assist, 1.5 sacks, 6.5 TFLs

Excellent! I updated the write up. Up to 6 lobos blancos!

Coaches son Jaxton Eck is a stud! Helluva debut.

Karhu with 7 sacks is impressive! From D2 to Memphis and finally finds a home. Portal is for goys like him.

Interested to see how New Mexico builds. Perhaps a possibility for YAC? Eck has Badger connections..

Locking up Eck for another 5 years was a heady move!
