Since 2005, the Spartans have had 7, 5, 7, 10, 10, 10, 12, 8, 9, 8, 8, 10, 11, 11, 10, 11, 11, 7, 4, and 5 white starters. In 2025 they start 8, which includes a fullback.

A slight increase from last year, but QB Aidan Chiles will make this a tough watch. The “expert’s” number two QB of the 2023/24 transfer class put up “dynamic” stats of 13 touchdowns to 11 interceptions last season with a less than 60% completion rate. One may think that lower rated transfers, such as Will Howard, Riley Leonard, or Kyle McCord, of the previous year may have been deserving of the second ranked QB; however, they simply do not have the upside. Besides the QB situation, this is a pretty standard caste team. Shocking that this is an average Big 10 team in terms of starters these days. Michigan State is a mediocre to bad team from our perspective and their results on the field will likely reflect this.

Starters

LT Stanton Ramil
C Matt Gublin
RG Luka Vincic
RT Conner Moore
TE Jack Velling
FB Jay Coyne

DT Grady Kelly
DT Alex VanSumeren

The two QBs pushed out of Michigan St by HC Jonathan Smith - Katin Houser and Sam Leavitt have been much better than Smith's handpicked magical upsider. Leavitt is getting 1st round QB hype. Huge mistake by Smith!

Good hire! Happy to see him back in Big Ten. Would have liked to see him in Madison.

Maybe next year Leonhard will find his way back to Madison.

I don't get White pilled anymore when it comes to head coaches but Fitzgerald's track record was very good for a consistent period of time (almost 2 decades). He already has the QB, he can recruit the neglected historical Big Ten geographical area that every other team seems to ignore.

Fitz is about as good as it gets! Tough and fair to our guys. In theory he should be able to get the lesser heralded overachievers in state that Michigan ignores. Kinda like Dantonio previously did. Should recruit Chicago land and its suburbs well.

Rumor is Alessio Milivojevic is headed out of Michigan State because he does not agree with the firing of Smith. Hopefully he makes a good decision about his future.
