Only three weeks left in the college football season. Amazing how quickly it flies by.
Tuesday
Kent St vs Akron - Here's to hoping the Golden Flashes win out. Would like to see them get a bowl berth but they need to win their final three games to get to 6 wins. Would like to see RB Cade Wolford get more involved in the offense.
Ohio vs Western Michigan - Ideally one of these two teams end up winning the MAC in what is a very down year for the conference.
Wednesday
Buffalo vs Central Michigan
Northern Illinois vs UMASS
Toledo vs Miami OH
Thursday
Troy vs Old Dominion - Tune in for QB Colton Joseph
Friday
Clemson vs Louisville - Would like to see the Tigers run the table and end up at 7-5 in what was a disappointing year. If Louisville had won last week i'd be a little more conflicted but now I just want Klubnik to improve his draft stock (he's been forgotten in draft circles due to Clemson's bad season) along with LB Wade Woodaz. Two seniors and NFL talents.
Minnesota vs Oregon - Oregon escaped Iowa City due to a rare special teams mishap by the Hawkeyes which proved to be the difference in the game. Otherwise Oregon's offense has slowed down noticeably as the competition improved throughout the season. Minnesota been a solid team this year but notable blowouts at Ohio State and against the Hawkeyes are blemishes. If Minnesota can run the ball, make timely plays in the passing game and have the defense show up like they did against Nebraska they have a shot. Lot's of next level talent on defense - Oregon of course has LB Bryce Boettcher and S Dillon Thieneman who are #1 and #2 in tackles on the team. The Gophers have DBs John Nestor and Koi Perich along with emerging LB Maverick Baranowski.
Saturday
Wisconsin vs Indiana - The Hoosiers needed last minute heroics last week to come back from what would have been a huge upset against PSU. WR Charlie Becker emerged as a key target for Fernando Mendoza in that game and LB AIden Fisher had an INT and fumble recovery. The Badgers season is a lost one and with the Hoosiers at home I think they get back on track with a big win.
S. Carolina vs Texas A&M - Rooting for the upset in a game I really don't care anything about outside of the playoff rankings. A&M has had one of the easiest schedules in the country and it has not been discussed at all.
Notre Dame vs Pitt - Could be a trap game for the Irish. Pitt QB Mason Heintschel has been hands down the best true freshman QB in the country. Notre Dame's RS Freshman CJ Carr is no slouch either. Has the potential to be a shootout.
Michigan vs Northwestern - Michigan features the most hyped up freshman QB in the country that simply does not deserve the attention but we all know how that goes. Rooting for the Northwestern upset here, I think it's possible as long as the Wildcats tighten up their run defense.
USF vs Navy - Going with the Midshipmen all the way as long as QB Blake Horvath is under center and healthy after missing last week's game. The option offense should give the USF defense trouble.
Arizona vs Cincinatti - WR Luke Wysong's production has really fallen off for the Wildcats. Not sure if it has been due to injury or just ignoring him in the offense. QB Brendan Sorsby still has a chance at getting the Bearcats to double digit wins.
Air Force vs UCONN - Air Force QB Liam Szarka has a chance to secure 1k rushing yards this weekend. UCONN QB Joe Faganano is still getting no national attention for his superb season, nor is he garnering the draft buzz he should be. He has yet to throw an INT this season in his 343 pass attempts.
Arkansas vs LSU - The Tigers season is lost. The interim head coach should do the right thing and let Nussmeier finish the season as the starter for his draft stock. I still think he is a very good QB and will get a senior bowl invite. The LSU program has been a mess this year. Not sure if the Weeks brothers will be playing yet but I hope they both leave this year for the draft. Arkansas is a dark dumpster fire.
Oregon St vs Tulsa - The Beavers have also done nothing to help their best offensive player reach some personal milestones in a lost year. WR Trent Walker looked like a sure thing a few weeks ago to reach 1k receiving yards on the season only to see his production drop. The piss poor QB room has alot to do with it. Over the past 4 games Walker has had 2, 3, 4 and 4 receptions. Absurd.
WVU vs Arizona St - Rooting for the Mountaineers to at least win against Az State this week. While not perfect freshman QB Scotty Fox should be in viewed as the future of the position. On defense LBs Reid Carrico, Ben Cutter and Ben Bogle have been getting a decent amount of playing time and producing. They also have an actual Finnish DL in Edward Vesterinen that should get some NFL looks. The Sun Devils are worth rooting heavily against without their great QB Leavitt.
North Texas vs UAB - UNT QB Drew Mestemaker can potentially have another huge game along with the White WRs for the Mean Green.
Oklahoma vs Alabama - Big time matchup with CFP implications and two of the best QBs in the country facing off in Simpson and Mateer.
UCF vs Texas Tech - The Red Raiders should steamroll UFC in this game. TTU is a team that CF should follow during the playoff. Lots of White talent as is mentioned in the weekly CFB thread.
NC State vs Miami - I've soured some on Carson Beck, a frustrating QB to watch but always rooting for him to improve his draft stock.
Ga Tech vs Boston College - The Yellow Jackets defense really hurt their chances at a playoff spot this year. QB Haynes King still remains on the Heisman radar. He should have a big game against a terrible and caste gutted BC program.
Iowa vs USC - The Hawkeyes defense stopped the passing game of Oregon dead in it's tracks last week however struggled against the run. A more complete performance is needed this week by not just the defense but also the offense that has been better than previous years but still inconsistent.
UVA vs Duke - QB Chandler Morris was knocked out of the game last week which helped lead to the Cavaliers defeat. Duke WR Cooper Barkate still has a great shot to hit 1k yards with three games left.
PSU vs Mich St - Their may be a bit of a QB position battle in East Lansing. Both of these teams seasons are lost. I think PSUs freshman QB Grunkenmeyer has some potential, whether he stays at PSU when the new regime comes in or transfers out is yet to be seen. Sparty QB Alessio Milivojevic had a great game against the Minnesota defense which could lead to a change at the QB position as well. Again at the very least he could become a commodity in the portal.
Maryland vs Illinois - rooting for an Illini blow out here.
San Jose St vs Nevada - Another potential big time game for Scudero.
Texas St vs Southern Miss - WR Beau Sparks is on the cusp of a 1k yard season, RB Lincoln Pare also has a chance at 1k rushing yards. The Bobcats need to win out for bowl eligibility.
FAU vs Tulane - Good QB matchup of the dynamic dual threat QB Jake Retzlaff for Tulane and QB Caden Veltkamp for the Owls. WR Easton Messer also has a shot at 1k receiving yards.
Utah vs Baylor - Certainly a big game for Baylor QB Sawyer Robertson against a very good Utes defense. If he plays well in this game I think the buzz around him will start growing. The Utes of course have DE John Henry Daley, LB Lander Barton and the potential second coming of Eric Weddle in S Jackson Bennee along with WR Ryan Davis who has done a great job in a limited passing offense.
Utah St vs UNLV - Potential to be an entertaining shootout. Rebels QB Anthony Colandrea has had a very good season as a dual threat. The Aggies have two WRs in Brady Boyd and Braden Pegan having great seasons and a huge DB in Brevin Hamblin that is second on the team in tackles.
UCLA vs Ohio St - Another opportunity to watch QB Julian Sayin orchestrate the Buckeye offense. DE Caden Curry has been in a bit of a sack drought so it would be nice to see him get one against the Bruins.
Texas vs UGA - Arch Manning has not had the season most projected him to have but the Longhorns are still at 7-2 with a chance to make the playoff. Manning has been playing better as of late so logic would dictate that the game is starting to slow down. The Longhorns are the team to root for in this one because while QB Gunner Stockton is a very good, dynamic dual threat the Bulldog offense does next to nothing to get WR London Humphreys and RB Cash Jones involved. Hopefully @footballenthusiast makes his return for this game.
