The Netherlands Championships are going on. I won't talk about the mens 100 meters as you would think you were in Africa. However in the womens 100 meters finals Minke Bisschops ran a time of 11.05 +1.0 to win the title. N. Visser was 2nd in a time of 11.17.

Jonas Phijffers of the Netherlands won their 400m Championships with a National U23 record of 44.71.
There are so many guys under 45 this year.

Meanwhile, after winning the 100m yesterday, Amy Hunt took 2nd in the British women's 200m. She had the same time as the winner, an exceptional 22.14, but lost by a literal whisker at the line.

Lieke Klaver won the Dutch 200m from Femke Bol, 22.82 vs. 22.84.

Watching the US National Championships on NBC.
Before the women's 800m final, they didn't show all the competitors. Instead they focused on just the 3 black women that they expected to make the team.... instead, 3 white women, who weren't even mentioned before the race, made the team.

Cooper Lutkenhaus just ran 1:42.27 at the US Championships to take 2nd, and make the World Championships!!
The kid is 16 years old, and just finished his sophomore year in high school!
His time is a World Under-18 record, and is now the 4th fastest American ever!!
Guys, this is a superstar!!

Yoshihide Kiryu ran 9.99 (1.5w) and Yuhi Mori ran 10.00 (1.3w) in their heats at a meet in Japan. The final was cancelled due to weather.
Meanwhile in the 200m, Shota Iizuka won in 20.45 (1.2w). He is 34 years old, and has broken 20.5 in every one of the last 14 years. Pretty amazing!

The Japanese are gonna have a guy in the 9.8's pretty soon I think. I still remember when Koji Itu had the national record at 10.00, I think that record stood for almost 20 years and now over the past 7-8 years they have 4 guys who have run under 10. It's amazing what a people are capable of when national and racial pride are strong and the country is ethnically homogeneous.

Thank you brother for stating what I have screamed from the root tops. I 100 percent agree. Great minds think alike!!

I agree in regards to the Japanese except they have 2 mixed Japanese/Blacks 1 is Sani Brown the other is a 400m runner, Kinda pisses me off. Michael Norman is half Japanese and half Black as well.

Lutkenhaus is phenomenal for 16 y old, what a time!!! Sucks to see Brazier win but happy with the Lutkenhaus and Hoppel!

Forgot to mention Roisin Willis winning the 800m final. She has struggled mentally at times and she seems to be putting the issues in her past, well done young lady!!

I don’t think we’re talking about this enough… Lutkenhaus running a 42.27 at 16 is basically the equivalent of a 16 y/o running like a 9.8 in the 100….

I believe nobody in college has even ran faster…

Yes! His time is faster than any collegian.
So now the 800m high school record is faster than the 800m collegiate record, which is amazing!
He is now the 4th fastest American ever.
This is really mind blowing!!

I'm starting to believe that the kids these days are fearless. They don't believe what many previous generations did. Generation Z is
doing alot of good things and not just in sports. Great to see. His performance and time is just incredible.

That time in the 800 is insane for a 16 year old. It’s more impressive than the 100m time that the Japanese kid just ran. It’s been a great year for 800 times this year.

He's probably the best talent in middle distance racing since Jim Ryun two generations ago. As others stated his time would be a 9.8X low if he were a sprinter which is totally insane. In some ways since you need to build an endurance base for world level 800m runs it might be even harder than that time for a 16 year old sprinter.

I hope he is level headed and doesn't have injuries or personal life issues as a Ryun type career would be a slight disappointment as Ryun only had one major medal in two Olympics.

If you look at a recent middle distance prodigy Mu her career seems to be circling the drain after winning 3 major golds(2 individual and one relay) as she seems to be more interested in everything but training and running. Sydney McLaughin would be a career trajectory that would be the dream scenario and a Mu type career would be a disappointment after the initial success.

PS a nightmare scenario would be a Zola Budd type career trajectory but there was more to her flaming out than normal burnout as she had media pressure from her jumping to British citizenship and avoiding the Apartheid ban and the infamous racing accident with Decker destroyed her motivation to race at the world level again.

PS2 If anybody has a link to any coverage of the track and field it would be appreciated as NBC once again has vigorously enforced their broadcast rights and aside from a few short clips I haven't seen anything of the trials less a few short clips, thanks.

I was looking at the top lists today and came across the name Yuhi Mori of Japan. He ran a 10.00 on August 3rd. He is 21 years old. I am really curious as to how those Japanese train. Apparently Kiryu won that same race in 9.99.
