Konstantin Krylov 10.04 & 20.42

Fireworks this summer if all goes right. Let's hope for some new personal best times!

It was recorded in the track results thread about Konstantin Krylov opening up his season with a 10.16 +2.1 wind over the 100 meters. It's a shame it was a hair over the allowable limit or he would have just about tied his p.b. of 10.15 in his first race. Krylov skipped the whole indoor season so he has to get his legs back under him and get his fitness back. I can see him going sub 10.10 this summer but hoping for a sub 10.05! He is only 21 years of age so time is on his side. Just wish the war would end & the Russian Athletes can compete around the world again. Konstantin Krylov is missing out on experience racing in different countries and against other competitors than just his teammates.

Here is to him making himself more known around the world in the next 4 to 8 years. I also want him to be the first Russian to go Sub 10! They have a few good up & coming young guys and Krylov can lead by example. Good luck to him this summer!

Konstantin Krylov runs a new personal best of 10.14 +0.3 in the RAIN! This is a great time for only his 2nd race of the year and he proves he doesn't need wind to run fast. He did this all on his own. I expect him to go sub 10.10 and he may go sub 10.05 this summer with good conditions. The great news is that he just turned 21 years of age in March.

Krylov only gets to run against Russians. Imagine how much this has set him back? Then the very cold weather & short track season in Russia. He could have already went sub 10 if things were different. I feel so bad for all the russian men & women track athletes.

BIG THINGS TO COME FROM THE NEXT VALERIY BORZOV!

very good time given the conditions. Can't he run anywhere as a neutral athlete?

No sadly between the IAAF Council and Russia he is not allowed to leave home soil. What a waste of elite talent. It's not like Russia has had
many elite sprinters since the Soviet Union Days. The only descent one I can remember was Andrey Yepishin. He was not as good as Krylov.

I think sprinting is more or less a sport that Russia doesn’t care a lot about in current times. This year for example they only have 6 guys that have run a 10.5 or better. Heck, they only have 28 guys so far this year that have run under 11. That’s a participation issue, not a talent or genetics issue. It would be nice to see Krylov break the 19 year national record held by Yepishin and I’m sure he can do it.

…Once, sprinter Andrei Epishin repeated the Russian record in the 100-meter dash at the 2026 European Athletics Championships in Gothenburg — 10.10 seconds — and won a silver medal. (The national record was set in 1986 by Nikolai Yushmanov.) And Andrei lost to the best sprinter in Europe, Portuguese Francis Obikwelu, who ran outside the top ten: 9.99 seconds. And Epishin then became only the second sprinter from Russia in history to be on the podium after a distance of 100 meters. (The first was Alexander Porkhomovsky, he won bronze in 1994.)

What did Andrey Yepishin say in Gothenburg? That the Russian sprinter had never achieved such a result before, and he should thank his father and coach Sergey (he ran the 3000m steeplechase) and his mother Ekaterina Podkopayeva (800m). And that he expected a fast time from himself, but now he needs to train more and "try to run under 10 seconds."

I remembered this when Krylov spoke in Luzhniki. What did Konstantin Krylov say, having won gold practically in the rain and thunderstorm, setting a personal best and showing a result of 10.14 in the 100 meters? (Alexei Zavaliy won silver, Ali Hadji from Bahrain won bronze.) He simply said: "Running under 10 seconds is the minimum that needs to be done." Let us clarify that in the history of the USSR and Russia, not a single sprinter has achieved this. Konstantin showed that the swing of his "wings" as a runner is strong.

Krylov assumes that he can achieve the desired result in a year or two. It is “desirable” to do it in such a time frame. And at the same time, promising great achievements (and how else can you call something that has not yet happened in Russian track and field?), he refuses to even feel any pressure on himself because he himself announced it and because they expect a Russian record from him? “Well, they are waiting and waiting. If I beat it, it will be great.” He also says that in the conditions of not being allowed to participate in international competitions, he is motivated by personal goals.

The Russian Rocket Konstantin Krylov sets a new p.b. of 10.04. Mark my words. He just took down the record of V. Borzov!
Sub 10 coming soon for this incredible Russian Sprinter! The best is yet to come!

Konstantin Krylov goes 10.04 :flamethrower2:

It is the All Time Russian Record!

It has finally happened. The record that has been held since 2002 has finally been broken! The Previous Russian All Time Record over
the 100 meters in men was 10.10 seconds. This result belongs to Andrei Efimov and was established in 2002 according to the All -Russian Athletics Federation.

But now Konstantin Krylov is sitting on top with his time of 10.04!

That's a heck of a time and he definitely has a lot more in the tank by watching that run. It looked like Sazonov was possibly gaining on him near the end but it was hard to tell.

good to see - now to repeat it with no wind - still, he may just get to that level. I wonder why he can't compete as an international non-aligned athlete?

He is only 21 years of age. Younger than Lachlann Kennedy. Give him time. Would like to see him run internationally but I don't think
Russia has the budget. Not sure.

To be honest, Krylov didn't have the best form this race. He had some side to side movement. He is usually alot smoother and I believe
that hurt his time. Sasanov was so smooth with his 10.17 p.b. for second. He is very tall with a Lemaitre like stride. He is one to keep
a close eye on. Back to Krylov. I still have no doubts he will go sub 10 this summer or next at the latest. LIke you said though then it
will be about being consistant with running times around 10.00 or sub 10. Easier said than done!

This is the 10.14 Konstantin Krylov ran in the pouring rain with no wind assistance. He is the real deal.

essentially he needs a race with very good conditions and be 1 stride faster and he is sub 10! Fingers crossed.

The 2025 Russian Championships are in early August. Not sure if it's this weekend or next weekend. Hoping for some fireworks! This kid
can do for Russia what Lachlann Kennedy has done for Australia. Help bring back National Pride!

Worked at a cemetery, and now became the fastest man in Russia. Kostya Krylov - power!

He came closest to running the 100m in under 10 seconds, a feat no one had achieved for nearly 20 years.

Just a few days after Alexey Danilov’s spectacular run, which broke the country’s record set back at the 1980 Olympics, we said that there were still several “eternal records” left in Russia.

For 45 years no one could run faster:

Bad words were flying out. 18-year-old Russian breaks record that stood since 1980 Olympics

"Bad words were flying out." 18-year-old Russian breaks record that stood since 1980 Olympics

Now there is one less achievement from the last century. The history of Russian track and field has been rewritten by a 21-year-old guy!

The fastest man

Konstantin Krylov has broken the Russian record in the 100m sprint. He covered the sprint distance in 10.04. The time was shown at the Russian Championship for those under 23.

Konstantin dropped as much as 0.06 seconds from his previous record, and 0.11 from his personal one. His benchmarks were the results of Nikolai Yushmanov (1986) and Andrei Yepishin (2006). They ran 100 m in 10.10.

"This is a very old record. It is one of my goals. However, I strive for more interesting numbers than these. So that my result consists of not four, but three digits. But I do not guess when this should happen, I go to my goal step by step," Krylov said in an interview with TASS.

"I worked part-time at the cemetery"

Russia's best sprinter was born in Krasnoyarsk and began doing track and field at the age of 11. He recalled that he was brought to the section so that he would be less lazy. And by the age of 15, Konstantin was already seriously involved in football. But then he had to give up the game with the ball for the sake of the "Queen of Sports".

After finishing school, he entered the technical faculty of the Siberian Federal University (SFU), but was never able to finish the first semester. He was expelled. But in 2023, Krylov broke two records at once in the U20 category at the national championship and debuted at the adult level. At the 2023 Russian Championship, he only came in second, but a year later he got his way - he won gold.

In the same 2023, he worked part-time at a cemetery to earn some extra money.

"A couple of years ago I worked part-time as a lawn mower at a cemetery. All my friends went to work in the summer, so I wanted to too.

The work is actually great. It's not difficult, and there are a lot of stories from there. For example, I once caught a guy who was walking on graves and stealing candy. Or another time a guy got confused and drank diesel fuel.

Last summer, I also worked part-time, but as a loader. We had to haul pig carcasses out of a truck. However, the foreman saw us and said: "You guys are kind of small." And I ended up washing the container in which the pigs were butchered," Sports.ru quotes Krylov as saying in 2023.

The world record in sprint is still held by Jamaican Usain Bolt in 2025. However, if you think that Krylov is going crazy about his results, we hasten to disappoint you. The Russian did not like the social life of the Jamaican runner. This is not why he goes out on the track.

"Of course, I knew who Bolt was. But I definitely didn't come into sports because I wanted to be like him. I don't have an idol as such, I try to take the best from everyone and discard the worst. This athlete loved to walk, and didn't always observe sports discipline. But in general, of course, he can be a role model. It's not for nothing that no one has been able to approach his world records for almost 15 years," TASS quotes Krylov as saying.

Konstantin is undoubtedly cool. And if at 21 he updated the Russian record and showed the numbers he had been working towards for a long time, then what will happen in a year? Will a Russian really run the 100-meter dash in under 10 seconds for the first time in history?

We hope that a new record will not be long in coming!
