I Have a Rendezvous with Death
Alan Seeger - 1888-1916

I have a rendezvous with Death
At some disputed barricade,
When Spring comes back with rustling shade
And apple-blossoms fill the air—
I have a rendezvous with Death
When Spring brings back blue days and fair.

It may be he shall take my hand
And lead me into his dark land
And close my eyes and quench my breath—
It may be I shall pass him still.
I have a rendezvous with Death
On some scarred slope of battered hill,
When Spring comes round again this year
And the first meadow-flowers appear.

God knows ’twere better to be deep
Pillowed in silk and scented down,
Where love throbs out in blissful sleep,
Pulse nigh to pulse, and breath to breath,
Where hushed awakenings are dear...
But I’ve a rendezvous with Death
At midnight in some flaming town,
When Spring trips north again this year,
And I to my pledged word am true,
I shall not fail that rendezvous.

WHAT MEMORIAL DAY MEANS TO ME
As a 10-year USMC veteran, I can say that it has little if anything to do with our "freedom." Cannot think of a single war in our history - including the Revolution - which was fought for our "freedom," although the Revolution did produce a fine Constitution - something which has been increasingly perverted & abused over the past 60-odd years (some would say since 1865).
Never has that been so starkly defined as since we set out on these Middle Eastern "regime change" wars as Israel's obedient 800-pound gorilla. Every American who has died or been wounded, every person the US has killed or maimed or driven from their homes, has been done for Greater Israel. "Freedom" - ours or anyone else's - has had absolutely nothing to do with it.
Will America ever free itself? Hard to say. All things end, and the wheel of history sometimes takes a while to turn. But I tell you this: internal collapse due to policies put into place at state & local levels in the wake of COVID-19 will absolutely lead to either revolution or civil war, and what will emerge from the ensuing chaos will not be anything palatable to the ruling elites (most but not all Jewish, many dual Israeli citizens) in NYC & Hollywood.
Who knows? Might be worth hanging around a few more years (if I can) to see that happen. Russia & Eastern European countries might even help us!
"Happy" Memorial Day.

Randolph Fuller America is our last hope. It will take civil war to get your country back. It would probably turn into a world war. Same old story.

Alan Sabrosky I wowuld difer only on the "last hope." Oddly enough, there is more of Western culture surviving & enshrined these days in places like Russia & Poland & Hungary - how's that for irony?

I have read this was one of John F. Kennedy favorite poems.

Happy Memorial Day all. I saw this on X while browsing this morning. Nice to see truth like this being posted:

Very true statement. I definitely have had my worldview evolve over the years. It angers me that so many of our forefathers ended up being pawns for a disgusting hateful agenda.

All wars are (((bankers))) wars.

Labor Day, Memorial Day, and the 4th are always rough for me as I think of all the lives wasted to usher in the current BS we live in.. No more brother wars.

Me as well. As I'm a USMC veteran, but never was in any wartime situation. Relatively peaceful when I served. However, my grandfather was a Marine too that survived Iowa Jima. He was a big, but quiet man. Didn't say much. He never spoke about his experience at Iowa Jima. He was gone for 2 straight years and my grandmother wrote to him every day and remained faithful to him. They don't make many women like her anymore.
My uncle as a Marine survived a tour in the Korean War and two tours of Vietnam. There was clearly something not right about him. He committed suicide a couple years ago.
I also think about the lives wasted in The Civil War. Looking back on that war, I would've fought for the South I'm pretty sure, but it's difficult for me to understand how the South thought they could win. The South was outnumbered 3-1. No factories. Limited transportation networks, a reliance on a cotton based economy. Yet because of their sheer will/determination and better Generals, IMO the Civil War lasted and wasted more lives than it should have.
Although I like to read about those days, it makes me very sad to think about the Civil War.

I’m a yankee with a relative that was only 15 when he fought for South. Ended up in Fort Anderson in GA as a POW from 1863-1865. Civil War was the 1st step in wiping out Whitey, can’t convince me otherwise. The South fought valiantly but the North also had unlimited immigration to help put them on top.

My Grandpa left me this set of books along with a set of Western books. The trailblazers, the cowboys, the Calvary men. Etc.

Appreciate your service CS and good to know there are more of us that feel same everyday.!
