    Sam Blaskowski - D3 speedster -- 9.89 & 19.93!

I was a little surprised at Blaskowski's time in the 200m. I guess because he is relatively short and stout, I didn't expect him to run so well at the longer distance. I felt the same way about Lachlan Kennedy. Interesting that these 2 guys both have stout builds, whereas the last time we...

Miller Warme is a name I hadn't heard before. He is a junior out of the Seattle area, and he finished 2nd (by just .08) in the 400m Hurdles at the USA U20 Championships this weekend. His time was a fantastic 49.28, which broke the previous high school record, but as mentioned, he came in 2nd...

A new name to note in the Long Jump. Stephen MacKenzie of Scotland, won the event at the UK Championships, with a jump of 8.15 meters. That's a new Scottish record and puts him in the Top 10 in Europe.

It should be noted that Marco also ran 10.04 in his heat before the final, and the wind was a little less strong, 1.5w. So he ran 10.04 twice in within an hour and 15 minutes. That's very impressive. Emilie also ran well in the same heat - 10.09. An impressive outing for both of them.

    Forgotten White Athletes?

The last of the straddlers. I loved his jumping style. I remember when he broke the world record. Another case of, 'what a shame' that injuries killed his career before he was 21 years old. What if, indeed!

    Forgotten White Athletes?

I remember Damien Marsh and this race where he beat the world's best sprinters. I didn't know about his injury . . . such a shame! Australia had some good sprinters back then.

I would rate Blaskowski's result today as very good. He was up against top level competition, and finished 4th. Finishing behind Olympic and World Championship medalists like Bednarek and Christian Coleman is nothing to be ashamed of. Plus he beat Letsile Tebogo, who is the Olympic 200m...

Some notable times at the Japanese Championships: 19 year old Naoki Nishioka ran 10.09 in the semis of the 100m, and another 19yo, Fukuto Komuro, ran 10.07 in the heats. In the 200m heats, Soshi Mizukubo ran 20.07 (+0.5) - 2nd fastest Japanese all-time. In the 400m hurdles, 17 year old Taiju...

Taiju Goto of Japan set a World U18 record in the heats of Japanese Championships, running the 400m hurdles in 48.31! The previous record of 48.89 was held by Louis Van Zyl of South Africa. The time also makes him #6 all-time on the U20 lists (under 20 yrs old). **UPDATE** Goto improved his...

At an international junior meet in Germany, I see that Leendert Koekemoer of South Africa won the 400m in 45.11. Xenia Buri of Switzerland won the women's 100m in 11.13 (1.1w), which is the leading U20 time in Europe. She also ran 11.14 (0.3w) in the heats. Meanwhile in Greece, 21 yr old Nora...

Finally, something to cheer about at the NCAA Championships. Vance Nilsson, a sophomore at the University of Florida, demolished the field in the 400m hurdles, winning from lane 9 in a great time of 48.06. 2nd place was 48.82. So he won by almost 8/10s of a second! A dominant performance. We...

Andrew Jones of Texas and Josh Hamblin of Utah, came 1st and 2nd in the 110m hurdles at the Brooks PR Invitational (high school). Jones ran 13.14 (0.9w) for the win. That's a PB for Jones and makes him #2 performer and performance all-time. Hamblin's 13.24 makes him the #5 high school performer...
