This WR out of Iowa St is the next Randy Moss. He's 6'5" 205 pounds and as a FR last year had 9 TDs with an average of 21 yards per catch. I couldn't believe but collegefootballnews.com (best college footbal site out there) was raving about this guy in Iowa St's preview. They said he's the best player on the team and the best NFL prospect on Iowa St. He tore his ACL during offseason workouts this year but hopefully will bounce back and only improve upon last year's statistics.

It's about time Todd came back ot life. Although I am sure an injury of the magnitude he had didn't help coming back easy.

Blythe has 5 for 109 in the third quarter tonight against Colorado, including another "circus catch." This game features a real rarity among major programs-- both teamsstart two white WRs -- Blythe and Austin Flynn for Iowa State, Dusty Sprague and Evan Judge for Colorado.

We've speculated on the b.s. that will be made up about Mike Hass to keep him out of the first roundof the NFL Draft -- too slow, not tall enough, etc. What will theycome up with forTodd Blythe in two years, who's 6-5 with great hands and very nicespeed?

They won't be able to come up with an excuse after guys like Matt Jones are drafted in the 1st round and Samardijza will be in 2006.

Jeff will go in the '07 draft unless he comes out early. Hass and Bergeron should go in the first three rounds in '06. The way white men keep dominating the wide receiver position, Mike Hass could well be a first round pick.

Your right Don.These are exciting times for us as football fans.Hopefully the trend will continue.Todd is quietly having a big year. The real key will be when we start to get more number 1 & 2 receivers.I'm so sick and tired of most of these kids being labled possesion receivers despite their speed and size.Matt Jones and others are helping to slowly change that hopefully!

great game so far for white receivers from ISU... Austin Flynn had a great catch for 43 yards on top of another one going over 500 yards in the season and our man Todd Blythe just shattered the Iowa State record for TDs with 16 and he's only a sophomore! so far he has 4 catches for 51 yards with a TD catch of 27 yards... both anouncers can't get enough of Blythe and words smart, athletc and huge potential were all used!

and great game it was! Austin Flynn finished the game with 5 catches for 120 yards and Blythe had catches 5 for 87 yards and TD... Flynn also had a great open field and TD saving tackle on a cornerback after an interception... and the funny thing is Bret Meyer, Iowa State's QB is black :)

Ryan Kock, fullback had a rushing TD as well, that nakes his season total: 13 rush TDs!

two white defensive players also had great games, Nik Moser a SS had an interception and 4 defended passes (he is great reading the plays! he could have had 3 interceptions in this one), and Matt Robertson had couple of big tackles and added an interception, too
Iowa State lost in the overtime though...

Blythe looked great today. Also note that the best thing to happen to Kansas today was getting their starting (black) QB knocked out of the game so that Luke could come in and win it for them.

I did notice that Bronk. Good point. Also, Meyer looked like a deer in headlights in the 2nd half. They could use a good QB at Iowa State. When will Meyer be gone?

he is a sophomore, so it will be a while before he's gone

Update on Blythe, along with Draft Daddy's right on comment:

Iowa State junior wide receiver Todd Blythe keeps sights on Big 12 title game, not the NFL.

DD.com comment: Blythe, who played last season coming off a major knee injury, has collected 90 receptions for 1,833 yards and 18 TD's in his 2 seasons for the Cyclones. His career per catch average exceeds 20 yards, yet a pay scouting site recently dubbed Blythe a "possession receiver"....Wow, Blythe must be "possessing" a lot of deep throws to exceed 20 yards per catch, right?

I am going to have to check out this DraftDaddy site that everyone keeps talking about and quoting. Sounds like a decent place to get info.

After being held in check during regulation Todd Blythe exploded in overtime. Great way to kick off the season.

Blythe's first game numbers: 5 receptions for 94 yards and two scores. He caught a 30 yard TD in 2OT and a 25 yarder in 3OT. ISU held on to beat Toledo 45-43 in 3OT's.

Todd is the man! He'll definitly have over a 1,000 yards and over 10 TDs and should be on his way to all american status. Much like Samardjiza did his junior year.
