Next weekend, we have the highly anticipated Conor McGregor Vs. Max Holloway fight.

I feel this is a tough out for Conor as he will need a KO within probably the first two round to win or he will get gassed and finished. Conor is packing on the muscle and this will be at 170 which should benefit Conor but it's still not a match-up that favors Conor either way.

That's not going to help his standing for a title shot given Dana is already not a fan.

Colby came back down to 182.5 lbs to wrestle Tsarukyan after beating Chris Weidman last month at (I believe) 197 lbs.

Dana White seemed to have gotten tired of Colby in the UFC. The booking process for UFC fights is extremely opaque; it seems from the outside that Colby just wasn't getting offered anything worth his time. If he came back to MMA to, say, fight on another Jake Paul Netflix card, he'd have to settle his UFC contract balance in some way or another.

As the "face" of RAF, Covington might be looking for something more like an ownership share or lifetime position with the brand. He's already gung-ho about peddling Real American Beer

After Rountree injured himself, we have Guskov fighting recently dethroned former champion Ankalaev.

This is a huge step up for Guskov who is coming off of a draw with an old Jan. Given the state the division is in, winning this matchup would put the winner on the short list, for title contention, if not the next shot.

Big Ank seemed in total control. Fair play to Guskov for stepping up early - he was set to fight Blachowicz next week. Jan was apparently the first choice replacement but couldn't cut weight in time.

I hate to call fights "boring" because I'd prefer watching great wrestling to subpar boxing. Ankalaev seemed to bail on submissions quickly and was clearly fishing for a TKO, probably because everyone else calls him unmarketable (and boring). He was cautious and seemed to grapple Guskov into a strike-less TKO, ironically quite anticlimactic in terms of fireworks and dramatics.



Valter Walker had a superb "calf slicer" submission win at heavyweight.



He used his callout on referee Herb Dean, who was not there, for a failure to disqualify Cyril Gane for illegal elbows against Alex Pereira last month. Bit of a buzzkill if you ask me!
