Looking ahead to week 5

Thursday Night

Army vs ECU
- This should be an entertaining matchup. Army features a stable of White RBs and a White heavy defense. Not sure if QB Cale Hellums lost the starting job after losing playing time last week. ECU has the combination of QB Katin Houser and WR Brock Spalding.

Friday Night

FSU vs UVA
- FSU had the week one upset of Alabama which gives them their current #8 ranking. Since then they have placed an FCS team and Kent St. UVA has an explosive offense led by QB Chandler Morris. He will just need to take care of the ball to keep the Cavaliers in the game.

TCU vs Az State - A nice matchup of two very good QBs. TCU's Josh Hoover is flying very under the radar nationally despite leading a very good offense. Hopefully WR Joseph Manjack gets some more touches this week. For ASU QB Sam Leavitt is another one of the better QBs in the country with a potential 1st round future.

Houston vs Oregon St - The Beavers are an absolute dumpster fire after throwing their NIL money at another QB that was hyped up by the media early in his career only to fall flat. WR Trent Walker had no catches in the Beavers lopsided loss against Oregon. Hopefully he can get back on track, would be nice to see him reach 1k receiving yards. Houston's QB Connor Weigman, RB Dean Connors and TE Tanner Koziol is an entertaining trio of offensive talent. Should be a good game to watch skill position wise.

Saturday

USC vs Illinois
- The Trojans get their first test of the year with Illinois. The Illini coming off an embarrassing loss vs Indiana last week so hopefully they will hand USC their first loss of the year. I believe RB Aidan Laughery has been injured, it would be nice to see him return this week against the Trojans.

Ga Tech vs Wake Forest - The Yellow Jackets dark horse Heisman candidate QB Haynes King is still flying under the radar. Wake Forest has DB Nick Anderson but not much else off the top of my head.

Notre Dame vs Arkansas - The Irish defense is a big issue so far, especially the secondary. CJ Carr has been very good through his first 3 games as starter. The Irish running game is also performing at a high level. Arkansas is not redeemable in any way. Hopefully this game helps push the Razorbacks toward the end of the Pittman era.

Rutgers vs Minnesota - Former Gophers QB Athan Kaliakmanis has elevated his play over the first quarter of the season - his completion% has jumped from 54% to 69% from last year and currently has a 7 to 1 TD to INT ratio. Minnesota has a rare duo of starting White DBs, both playing at a high level - S Koi Perich and CB John Nestor. First year starting QB Drake Lindsey has been a little uneven so far this year but is a talented passer. It does seem that PJ Fleck will let Lindsey play through and let him develop. Logan Loya has been absent from the Gophers offense so far this season.

Duke vs Syracuse - This game would have been interesting but the leading passer in college football Steve Angeli suffered an achilles injury last week and is done for the year. Names to keep an eye out for in the box scores are RB Anderson Castle and WR Cooper Barkate for Duke.

Louisville vs Pitt - Another quality matchup between two good QBs. I think the Panthers have the more explosive QB in Eli Holstein (another under the radar nationally White QB). Otherwise a fairly standard caste matchup.

Cincinnati vs Kansas - The Bearcats have my personal favorite QB in Brendan Sorsby along with the explosive Joe Royer at TE. LBs Joe Golday and Jack Dingle are two of the better LBs in the country. Kansas has nothing.

South Alabama vs North Texas - The Mean Green are another team with an under the radar QB in Drew Mestemaker along with WRs Landon Sides and Wyatt Young.

Utah St vs Vanderbilt - This game could be closer than the experts expect. The "pig farmer" Bryson Barnes is no stranger to upsets and is a very similar QB to the Commodores Diego Pavia. Utah State WR Braden Pegan is quietly having a nice start to the season.

Ohio St vs Washington - The outcome of this game should show how good the Buckeyes are. I don't think they lose but it will be QB Julian Sayin's biggest challenge yet. The Huskies trot out there version of the manlet. Hopefully DEs Caden Curry and Beau Atkinson make an impact on defense for the Buckeyes. The Huskies feature playmaking Safety Alex McLaughlin.

LSU vs Ole Miss - Another big game. Cuck Lane Kiffin and his coal squad go up against the palatable (for this season) Tigers. It's a game that QB Garrett Nussmeier can use to elevate his draft stock and enter into the Heisman conversation. TE Bauer Sharp is emerging as a target and the Weeks brothers on defense along with edge players Jack Pyburn and Dylan Carpenter.

Auburn vs Texas A&M - Typical coal SEC matchup. Just rooting for QB Jackson Arnold to have a bounce back game after the loss against Oklahoma last week. Everyone should root against the Aggies.

Indiana vs Iowa - Game of the week for CFers. It will be interesting to see how current Heisman frontrunner and potential number 1 pick (if he declares) Fernando Mendoza performs against the always tough Hawkeye defense. If Iowa's offense is clicking this could turn out to be a very entertaining game!

UCLA vs Northwestern - The Bruins (like the Oregon St Beavers above) are another shining example of NIL gone wrong. Northwestern has struggled early but I think they are a more talented team than the Bruins and this is certainly a caste match up.

Cal vs Boston College - Tune in to check out BC QB Dylan Lonergan - future 1st round pick.

Baylor vs Oklahoma St - The first game of the post-Gundy era. Baylor QB Sawyer Robertson is a good one and is generating positive next level buzz.

Utah vs WVU - The Utes offense was exposed last week. A very safe offense that needs to execute and they failed last week. WR Ryan Davis is racking up receptions though and DB Jackson Benee has been seeing time on both sides of the ball. DE John Henry Daley currently leads the nation in sacks with 6.

Arizona vs Iowa St - The Cyclones have been one of the better stories of the football season so far currently sitting at 4-0. Hoping that RB Carson Hansen is finally given 20+ carries in this game.

Oregon vs Penn St - Another big game with playoff implications. James Franklin always seems to lose the big games. Rooting for the Nittany Lions in this one - Drew Allar has been one of the best QBs in college football since he took over as starter. LB Dominic DeLuca always seems to make at least one big play a game as well. PSU's pass rush will need to get to the Oregon QB. The Ducks of course feature two of the best defensive players at their positions in the country - LB Bryce Boettcher and S Dillon Thieneman.

Alabama vs Georgia - After a week one embarrassment the Crimson Tide seem to have found their footing and QB Ty Simpson has been near flawless throughout the season. Safety Bray Hubbard is the rare unicorn in the SEC and a very good player. UGA had a great comeback against Tennessee 2 weeks ago led by their talented QB Gunner Stockton. It would be nice to see Cash Jones and London Humphreys get involved in the Bulldogs offense.

UMASS vs Missouri - QB Beau Pribula is probably one of the best NIL values from the transfer portal last year.

Washington St vs Colorado St - The Cougars started out promising but have dropped their past 2 games and now sit at 2-2. It seems that QB Zevi Eckhaus is now the starter after Jaxon Potter's promising start to the season fizzled out.

SJSU vs Stanford - Two talented WRs in Danny Scudero and Bryce Farrell in this game.

#Top Notch Stuff LF! Will never forget when Brian Leonard was drafted to be Rams RB Stephen Jackson's caddie ; when he could have easily been a Bell-Cow Back @ 6'-1" 225 running 4.49. Frustrating era along with Toby Gerhart & Jacob Hester!

Army RB Noah Short rushed for 127 YARDS on just 11 carries in a loss to East Carolina last night's only game.

>>>Stoked with Friday Night's match up's ....Hoover (TCU) & Leavitt (Arizona St) get to square off

Hopefully Virginia can knock off Florida State. Want to see what Soph. Free Safety #30 Ethan Minter can do too...

Thanks for the clarification...always expect too see WR Trent Walker in my Weekly Stat leaders....surprised he got shut out vs Oregon ; figured it was an injury possibly that put em out in the game early.

Maybe Houston RB Dean Connors can get a 100+ yard rushing game tonight

Virginia beats #8 FSU in double OT. Chandler Morris did not seem overwhelmed by the moment. Guess his many years of experience are paying off.

The ASU Sun Devils pulled out a close win against the undefeated TCU Horned Frogs 27 - 24!

Future NFL QB Sam Leavitt of ASU played outstanding as usual. He was 27-39 for 291 yards & 2 tds.
He also rushed 13 times for 62 yards and another touchdown. The kid is special and has elite talent
with both his arm and his legs.

Awesome result! The FSU QB is pretty insufferable so it was nice to see the Cavaliers pull out the win. The optics of UVA beating FSU are great.

Houston comes back to beat Oregon State, Walker gets his 100 yards.

Sam Leavitt quiets the doubters from his one off game vs Miss State a few weeks back. He’s really carrying this team. Hoover had uncharacteristic mistakes.

Some of our teams are playing early today. ND is looking good against Arkansas, Minnesota is down early to Rutgers (Kalikmanis looks great so far), and even Illinois is up on USC.

Watching a bunch of running back games.
Castle, Laughery, Brune and hopefully Carney...

Navy and Air Force are on later, also....
A couple more tonight!

Lake McRee and Walker Lyons have each made a very tough catch on this current drive. Those tight ends are all that is worth discussing about USC though.

Anderson Castle with a TD run.....
All guys mentioned above are second string or buried on the depth chart.
Tate Carney needs to transfer.

Wow! After being down 17-3 at halftime, Georgia Tech comes back to beat a mediocre Wake Forest team 30-29 in OT!
Haynes King with another excellent game. 243 yards/1 TD passing and 106 yards/2 TD's rushing! Should be an early Heisman candidate!

I’ve been rooting for Wake since Cade Carney.
After seeing them bench Tate, F them.....

Ex FCS WRs making big impact ....

Northwestern's Griffin Wilde (via So Dakota State) 6 rec 83 yards & TD 1st Half
Duke's Cooper Barkate (via Harvard) 4 rec 72 yards 2 TDs in 38-3 win vs Syracuse

Ohio U. Duncan Brune 7 carries 57 yards ..get him the ball more

in the Utah-West Virginia game, for the Utes 15 of their 16 completions went to White receivers, who then accounted for 158 of 163 receiving yards and all 3 touchdowns en route to a 28-0 halftime lead. not bad for a bunch of overachieving gym rats with hard hats, blue collars, and deceptive speed.

in that same Utah-WVU game, the announcers are doing their best to prop up the black quarterbacks from WVU, but they can’t hide the fact that they’re NOT dynamic or electric or revolutionary, nor do they possess dat ‘ris’ flick. they’re inaccurate and run like chickens with their heads cut off anytime they perceive the slightest hint of pressure. scattershot, indeed. ouch! i guess the White kids in West Virginia do not play football …

White running back sighting. sophomore Clay Ash for WVU has touched the ball quite a few times before the game was completely out of reach.
