March Madness 2025

One of the worst choke jobs I’ve ever seen. Duke had trouble inbounding the ball at the end and couldn’t get it to their best FT shooters. Couldn’t rebound HOU misses, and Flagg missed a potential game winner at the end.

I‘ve seen some odious coal-black squads in the tourney over the years but this Houston team might be the worst. Duke has no one to blame but themselves. Nowhere to go but down for Flagg if he stays another year, should definitely turn pro.
Fellas, did I actually hear one of the cuck announcers mention that " J'Wan" is a 6 YEAR senior??

Flagg scored 27 ; Knueppel 16 = 43 points

The rest of the Duke team only scored 24

Yep. 9 point lead with 2:15 to go! 1-FG over the last 10 minutes is awful. You got to finish. Duke and Coach Scheyer failed to finish, and it cost them a National Championship.
I'm not a BB expert, but to all of you who are, I have one question. Why didn't Duke press back on Houston? Duke plays great defense. To put pressure on them to get the ball in as well. I don't believe I've ever seen it happen in any game. I would've started pressing Houston. To put pressure on and force them to get the inbounds pass in and get it up the court. Who knows they may have gotten five or ten second call and or a Cooper Flagg steal as he had 2-3 during the game. I would also take more time off the clock and force Houston to take a quicker shot.
Anyone?
I hate it for Flagg and Knueppel. They played great!

Horrible choke job.

3 small hat coaches and a racist high yella, not the Final 4 I envisioned!

Yes that was a touch foul and could have cemented the game or at least if Flagg scored on free throw attempts forced overtime in the game.

I don't get why Scheyer didn't have his best player(Flagg) with decent height inbound the ball to a good hands type team. It seemed like the team unraveled like a cheap sweater late in the game.

This game and ending will be talked about for decades to come and the team won't have a chance for redemption like the early 90's team did when they were waxed by UNLV in the final as supposedly all 3 super freshmen will turn pro.

Flagg would have been a better option throwing it in for sure but the guard they had inbounding looked away from Flagg. All he had to do was loft it up to him and 9 times out of 10 Flagg would have came up with it.

Great game for the Duke haters. I can hear them crowing now.

This choke ranks up there with Atlanta's collapse against New England (of course I enjoyed that one).

This super frosh thing. A more seasoned team like back in the day likely would have handled the pressure. People need to remember these are kids just one year out of high school.

Yes, after Laettner and Duke were blown out by UNLV in 1990, the same group came back and won in 1991. And they repeated in 1992 by beating the Michigan Fab 5. You just don’t see those college teams loaded with NBA caliber juniors and seniors anymore.

I watched the highlights on Youtube. Duke was up by 6 with 34s to go. 19s later, they were down by 1. It was quite an implosion, I’ve seen a few others in the world of basketball over the years, but it’s exceedingly rare.

On another note, I saw that on the women’s side, UConn blew out South Carolina to win the championship. I don’t care much for women’s basketball but South Carolina has a rather despicable race-hustling coach with a coal-black squad so that was a good outcome.
