Last year Minnesota started 10 Whites

The 2016 Minnesota Golden Gophers look to start 7 Whites

Offense:
QB Mitch Leidner
TE Brandon Lingen
LG Connor Mayes
C Tyler Moore
RT Jonah Pirsig
WR Drew Wolitarsky

Defense:
MLB Cody Poock

Minnesota University is located in Minneapolis, MN which is 63.8% White and 18.6% black according to the 2010 US Census.

The projected number of White starters on Minnesota's football team is 7/22 which is 31.8%.

This means that White football players are underrepresented by 32 percentage points (63.8% - 31.8%) given the geographic location of the University.

We'll see if Leidner lives up to the preseason hype. Wolitarsky should have a nice year. Jonah Pirsig is a 6'9 giant at RT. Minnesota finally has another pale face on D in Poock.

PS Minnesota could easily mimick what it's neighbor Wisconsin does on defense and maybe they'd have more success than they've had this last decade. On the other hand keep recruiting Florida negroes on Defense, easy work for Wisconsin snow plows. It's been a decade since they've beat their white friendly neighboring state!

Leidner is a great "football player" and fun to watch, but it looks like he needs a position change to take his game to the NFL. I don't mean that he couldn't play quarterback in the league, but rather that he won't ever get a playbook designed for his skill-set. Maybe Week 1 was a bad night throwing, but the offseason scouting hype seems like a bit of an inside joke. His wheels make him a highlight reel though, so I will keep watching Minnesota.

There were some mistakes against Oregon State tonight, but he always looked like he was ready to win the game. I would lazily compare him to... oh I don't know, Tim Tebow.

According to Wikipedia, Minnesota is 83% non-Hispanic White plus 4% Hispanic White. So 87% total. I did think 63% sounded really low.

I actually used the municipal location of the University. The Gopher campus actually encompasses both Minneapolis and St. Paul, but I just used the stats for Minneapolis.

james johannesson was red-shirted last year. In a fair world he would easily be the starter right now for the Gophers but we will wait and see.
