Did anybody see the show about the WFA after the Karmazin fight? It's the first I've ever heard of it. Bas Rutten is coming out of retirement (they said he hasn't fought in seven years!! Woah!) to fight Kimo, and Quinton Jackson is fighting Matt Lindland. Vernon White and some other guys I can't remember are also fighting.

I have to wonder, if Jackson is doing stuff like this, why not a re-match with Liddell? Especially now that Liddell is putting it all on the line to fight Silva, he and the UFC can't be that afraid to lose to Jackson. Why couldn't the UFC put that deal together? I'd like to know if they tried and it fell through, or if they're not interested, or if Liddell and/or Jackson aren't interested, if Jackson is committed to this organization, etc.Edited by: JD074

I suspect that it's some combination of Jackson wanting an exorbinant fee, the UFC being cheapskates, and Jackson knowing that he'll be K.O.ed by Liddell this go-round anyway.

I think the UFC did not pursue Jackson because they already had the Wanderlei deal done. There is also a rumor that Fujita will fight a UFC heavyweight in November as well.

The WFA has an A-list of veterans on the fight card for their upcoming PPV on 7/22. Bas Rutten, Kimo, Rampage, Matt Lindland, Ivan Salaverry, Ricco Rodriguez, and Lyoto Machida, of all people, who has beaten Stephan Bonnar, BJ Penn, and Rich Franklin! I love MMA and will probably buy this PPV as well, although I don't think I can continue to buy two or three PPV's per month. Its getting to be as bad as boxing, between the UFC, Pride, and now WFA all having PPV's this month.

p.s. The Pride OWGP was the best buy. You see every fight on the card, the fights were better, and the refs push the action with the yellow card.

Shogun, I think Jackson is going to have trouble with Lindland. Although Jackson probably has better striking skills Lindland may very well dictate where the fight takes place. I know Lindland is giving up weight but if he can keep Jackson on his back the Law might be able to pull off a ground & pound win. What's your take on the fight?Edited by: dkr77

I think Lindland can do it-he just subbed Van Arsdale.

If you look at Jackson's record, all of his wins by KO/SUB/TKO are against Japanese fighters and other folks I've never heard of, with the glaring exception of Chuck Liddell. He's got a few more decisions against "name" fighters, but basically you are looking at a guy with a padded record milking wins against a Chuck Liddell whose spirit had apparently left his body before the fight and smaller Japanese. Against Vovanchyn, Vovanchyn quit because of an injury...okay, I'll have to admit I haven't seen every fight, what happened hear. Wanderlai K.Oed him twice, Shogun Rua K.O.ed him, and Sak, despite being the smaller man, subbed him.

I agree with you guys, I don't know that Jackson is overrated except that he isn't the fighter he used to be, nor is he superhuman just because he defeated Chuck Lidell. People forget that Lindland was a champion himself, and I too, think he can beat Jackson. Standing or on the ground either way.

I'm afraid my cable bill is going to be $300 or something, 'cause I'm probably gonna watch this one, too, primarily because of Lindland and Jackson.

Dude, come on, he's Black, of course he's over-rated to a certain extent, though with UFC so dominated by Whites and Hispanics, they may have to quit that sort of thing to avoid seeming ridiculous.

I think this is an important fight, coming up tonight. Try to direct positive energy towards Lindland...if he beats Rampage, that fool's "legend" will be over.

If the powers that be turn MMA into another version of boxing, I will not purchase another pay per view. There is already a noticeable trend of questionable decisions being rendered in the sport, and I am not going to fork over my cash to watch them hand a black fighter a gift decision over a white fighter who clearly won the fight. I don't know how many near submissions, takedowns and reversals you have to perform to win a fight, but the Jackson decision over Lindland was one of the most ridiculous I've seen in a long time.

Lindland clearly won the fight, but I was still nervous and suspicious before they announced the decision. Too many times I've seen a white athlete fall victim to poor judging, bad calls, and deliberate sabotage of an event in favor of a black fighter.

And this event turned out to be no different.

Well, half of my prediction has come true. Lindland may have been robbed, but I think the "Rampage" legend is truly over for any honest observer. He got taken to the limit by a middleweight most casual fans have barely heard of. No matter how many cans WFA feeds him, his days of milking a victory over the worst Liddell ever to step in the ring, and people considering him the world's greatest, are over.

I other news, Ryoto Machida beat Vernon "Tiger" White up abit in a slow fight and got the nod. White proved what a classy guy he is by flipping the bird at the audience.

Oliveira fought Marvin Eastman to a draw.

Bas Rutten proved he isn't too old to crush those who fight on short notice.

Did you catch all the TNB in the post-fight interview?

They asked Lindland if he'd take a rematch. His reply: "Anytime."

They ask Jackson the same question. His reply: "They gots' to RAISE MY PAY! CHA-CHING!" Complete with gyrations and the bob and weave, fist pumpin in the air.

Then Jackson told Lindland he stunk and needed to take a shower? wtf? I guess "Rampage" thought that was cute and funny in only the way a Negro or a 12-year old kid would think it funny.

The difference between the two fighters was evident on the walk to the cage. Actually, the difference was quite noticeable among all the fighters - the only two who acted like idiots were Jackson and the wigro rapper wannabe Jason Miller.

I was disappointed that Machida didn't finish Vernon. I will be waiting for all the comparisons to be made - Vernon can beat Franklin! Vernon can beat Penn! Vernon can beat Bonnar! The guy gets way too much respect to have a record of 24 wins and, now, 28 losses.

Villareal may not be much of a fighter, but the man can definitely take a punch. Did you hear Bas' laundry list of injuries he has to have taken care of before he fights again? Pulled groin, separated rib, and ACL? And this all BEFORE his fight with Villareal?

Bas is phenomenal at 41, another Randy Couture type. Good sense of humor, witty, in great shape, a good spokesperson and role model for MMA. Too bad Kimo didn't make it, couldn't pass the piss test.

He'd have been KO'd by those punches Villareal took flush on the chin.

I didn't watch the rest of the fights after the Lindland decision. How many fights did they show?

Hearing about Lindland "unofficially" beat Jackson makes me want to see a Liddell/ Jackson rematch even more. (I know, he has his hands full with Babalu and Silva, but still.) If Jackson can't physically overpower Lindland, there's no way he can bully Liddell again.

Or if not Liddell, somebody! It would bring me so much joy to see both Jackson and Evans get KTFO.
