Vyacheslav is 21-0(13) and rated WBA#3, WBC#14, IBF#13, WBO#8. He'll likely challenge for a title within 12 months.

Uzelkov scored a fifth round stoppage of Tomas Adamek. Not Cruiserweight Tomasz Adamek but Tomas Adamek of Czech Republic.

Uzelkov is physically imposing!

These specimens are cropping up everywhere.

from fightnews:

The purse bid was for the WBA Light Heavyweight title, between Beibut Shumenov (KAZ) and Vyacheslav Uzelkov (UKR). K2 Promotions and KZ Events reached an agreement. Per WBA rules, the champion will receive 75% of the purse and the challenger 25%. The minimum purse bid was set at $200,000.

On July 23 on ESPN Friday Night Fights we'll have the opportunity to see Vyacheslav Uzelkov in his first world title fight.

I have Shumenov sweeping every single round easily with the exception of the 1st when Uzelkov dropped him. Frustratting. I like Uzelkov. But it truly seems like he does not even want to be there. No passion, no desire, no effort really coming from Uzelkov. Just standing there.

Uzelkov wasn't at his best. He had all kinds of problems after arriving in the US three days before the fight.

Now I'm really counting on Pirog to win next weekend.  He can pick up another title for us.

Hopefully, but I'm worried about that one too.

Pirog has been training in Russia and will not arrive in Vegas until Monday. He should have trained in Las Vegas, or at least given himself a couple of weeks to adjust to the time zone change.

He's going to need a knockout to win.  No way these biased US judges give him a decision.

Yes. Jacobs is a Golden Boy fighter, and they are putting on the PPV event - the judges will favor Jacobs for sure.

Thanks for the info in regards to the Uelkov situation. Coming in three days before the fight??? You have to really wonder about his management. (Unless of course there were visa issues) Now Pirog is coming in only a few days before the fight?? Why are these Eastern European fighters being managed like amateurs? That explains why Uzelkov looked spent after the 2nd round. These topshelf Eastern European fighters seem to be looked after rather badly by those who are responsible for managing them.

This is unfortunately true.

It was sad that someone as talented as Denis Lebedev actually stopped boxing for four years in his 20s because he wasn't making a living at it. His management had done a very poor job with him.

It's only the negroes in America that get paid good money in boxing.

I remember Chad Dawson was paid over $2,000,000 by HBO for his unnecessary rematch with a fading Antonio Tarver. The very boring Andre Berto receives about the same for each of his fights.

Wlad was only asking for $250,000 to show his September fight, yet Ross Greenburg turned him down.
