German national newspaper Bild is reporting that Vitali Klitschko will box Londoner Dereck Chisora next February.

According to them, the WBC heavyweight champion will defend his title at Munich's Olympic Hall on Saturday 18th February.

Chisora looked desperately unlucky to lose by split decision when travelling to Finland earlier this month to challenge Robert Helenius for his European title.

"An interesting opponent," the 40-year old Ukrainian told Bild. "For me, he won the European Championship against Robert Helenius quite clearly."

The newspaper also reports that the veteran champ will fight David Haye in Germany in June.

Vitali should win both fights by KO in 6-10 rounds IMHO. GO VITALI!!!

Chisora is 15-2-0. And 0-2 vs other top ten heavyweights but hes fighting for a world title!?!?
There's at least ten unbeaten white fighters around who have done far more than this negro to deserve a title shot....

Easy, they'er the right color.

I'll admit he beat Helenius but he still shouldn't be getting this fight. Wasn't Fury given an opportunity to fight a Klitschko and he declined? Chisora is just another money hungry negro who will have some permanent brain damage after Vitali gets through with him. I would like to see him pull that pre-fight crap he pulled on Helenius with Vitali.

To be accurate and fair, the most likely reason why Chisora is given this titlefight is because Vitali specifically sought Chisora out and wanted to fight him.

Chisora has some unfinished business with the Klitschko brothers, of course Chisora had a fight scheduled with Wlad back in early 2011 which never happened, Wlad pulled out. Chisora engaged in a lot of trashtalk in the buildup for that fight and enraged Wlad and Vitali.

So, Vitali has decided to challenge Chisora.

Nobody except Vitali has given Chisora this chance.

That being said, Chisora back in 2011 was highly unqualified to be in line with a fight with Wlad. I dont know how or why he was given that opportunity.

The opportunity to fight Vitali is based on Chisora's most recent performance (a perceived win over Helenius), Vitali's own want to fight Chisora.

As a final note, I believe many better white challengers (ie Helenius, Povetkin, Fury) would not accept or feel ready to fight one of the Klitschko brothers.

In all honesty, Chisora is probably one of the better qualified boxers who would accept a fight with Vitali. Povetkin, Fury, Helenius are all more qualified than Chisora but truth be told they wouldnt accept the fight.

I think Chisora/Vitali is a great fight! :)

Vitali is, and always has been the rougher and tougher of the Klitschko brothers and his style is better suited for fighting Chisora than Wlad IMO.

Chisora is a tough guy, active, almost volume punching brawler with limited power.

Vitali of course, is just the toughest guy Ive ever seen box, great accumulative punching power, expert ring intelligence, iron chin etc.

I expect a Vitali W UD 12 or late TKO result.

I think this is a great fight and Vitali will give Chisora a beating not soon to be forgotten.

OK, good responses, BS2.

The Black Rhodesian career criminal did look pretty good in its last fight vs. an injured (?) Helenius. Of course the great Doctor V Klitschko is in a different league entirely.

Chisora hit H. numerous times but he couldn't hurt him with his flailing punches, and ineffective as H was that night his punches often landed. If H's punches were able to get through so easily imagine what Vitali will do. I expect a Vitali KO in the early rounds.

It will be shown on EPIX in the US.

It will be shown in many countries around the world (Germany, UK, Russia, Ukraine, etc). I will post links to a stream or two on Saturday before the fight.

Chisora

You need to go to the freaking "Zimbabwe" (Rhodesia) news to find out about this violent criminal invader from central Africa into what was once England.

Top Zim-born boxer was a robber

“I did about 10 crimes but I never got locked up for any of them,”

“They never caught me at the crime scene. The law in this country means that they have to catch you at the crime scene to prove anything. They have to catch you red-handed. Every time I got arrested they would say, ‘You’re under arrest for this and that,’ and I would say, ‘Cool, let’s go.’ ”

Despite the bravado, the long arm of the law did finally catch up with Chisora, but instead of jailing him it gave him one last chance.

He was lying on his back and a police dog was sinking its teeth into his legs in the garden of a house he had just burgled

Dempsey, do you remember around what time the Klitschko fights actually start? If I remember correctly it's usually around 5:30 Eastern Standard Time. That means I will probably miss the fight as I'm working till 6 and won't be home until 6:15. :icon_mad:

You might catch the last few rounds when you get home. If not, I can post a video.

Thanks for that info! I may be able to get out a half hour early.

EPIX is starting their telecast at 4:30 PM Eastern. I'm not sure if EPIX is showing Banks-Firtha or not.

According to the Klitschko website, the Vitali-Chisora fight will start at 5 PM Eastern/2 PM Pacific.

I'm really looking forward to this fight, Vitali/Chisora. Massive credit should be given to Vitali for fighting the best available opposition. He took the fight with historic alltime great Lennox Lewis on short notice. Then he came out of retirement to face an in-his-prime, Sam Peter (who at the time many were picking to be the HW ruler) and KO'd him, then he took on very dangerous fights in Odlanier Solis, and now this.

Realistically, based on Chisora's last fight where he won but was robbed against Helenius. I'd say that Chisora is probably the #2 challenger in the World to the Klitschko's behind Alex Povetkin. Of course, we should also remember that Tyson Fury beat Chisora, but truthfully, Chisor'a efforts against Helenius turned him into an instant top5 HW in the world.

Vitali therefore deserves credit for fighting the best opponents and giving this chance to Chisora. This is not a fight that Vitali was forced to take, rather he chose this fight.

Personally, I don't give Chisora much of a chance to win this fight. Granted, upsets can happen anytime in boxing. Chisora comes to fight, will give his best effort, and probably go down swinging. But Vitali really is several levels above Chisora in terms of skill, talent, ring intelligence.

Chisora is a very good fighter, the difference is that Vitali is a master-class fighter. Chisora was able to essentially walk in on Helenius. He will *not* do that with Vitali and he will pay for every inch he moves forward by receiving punches.

Vitali is much harder hitter than Chisora, speed is about equal I'd say, and Vitali is *massively* more experienced, intelligent in the ring, and mentally tough. I'd also wager that Vitali's defense is substantially better.

The only "advantage" I'd say that Chisora may have over Vitali is his volume punching. Chisora throws a lot of shots, more than Vitali, and he has a mauling style. Personally I dont think that style is a good style to use VS Vitali, because Vitali LIKES that and will counter/out strengthen Dereck. The best wya to fight Vitali is to box him, pot shots (similar to what Odlanier was doing before he got KO'd).

Realistically, I'd give Chisora less than a 10% chance of winning this fight, and that may be generous. The only chance he has is that Vitali is injured, or suddenly becomes "old overnight". I really doubt that's going to happen though. If Vitali is fit, healthy, and fighting on par with his last few fights, then Dereck has no real chance of winning this fight.

Vitali truly is absolute leagues above Dereck in terms of skill level.

My Prediction: Vitali Mid/Late Rds TKO.
I wouldn't rule out a Decision win for VK though.

Unfortunately I am working at the day and time of the fight , so I will not be able to watch it live. That really sucks because I was massively looking forward to this one.

What I do is when I come home, don't go on to boxing sites and I go to youtube and try to watch the fight without observing the result. Sometimes it works and I basically watch the fight without knowing the result, other times, people write the result of the fight in the YoutTube Title (ie "Vitali KO 8 Chisora full fight") in which case the result is ruined lol.

Anyways, I hope to watch this fight after it happens!

Goodluck to Vitali!

This will be a great action fight. Chisora, rightly deserved this opportunity after he got robbed against Hellineous. Anyways, I see even a better conditioned Chisora showing up. He knows this is a once in a life time moment for him.

Vitali will demonstrate his prowess but hitting him with power jabs, then stepping to the side. After 6 rounds of this, Chisora will be soften up, then suddenly a booming over hand right or wicked left upper cut will put the affelet to sleep........NEXT!

I don't think Chisora deserves anything except to get deported back to the jungle from whence he came - and if the UK had a real British government insted of a zionist occupational government he would be on the next boat, but of course they don't. Tyson Fury deserves the big money fight with the champ more than Chisora does - and so does Helenius - and by the way Fury who was shooting his mouth off about David Price - glass jaw and bla bla bla - has declined to fight him. As for the black african, he's got belly fat. He won't last long.
