Valuev successfully defends his title against Mccline, who bowed out with a knee injury in the third round.

I saw this fight and Valuev clearly controlled the first two rounds and McCline showed good boxing ability in the third round until his knee gave way. One thing though McCline was wasting a lot of energy fighting a style that a Byrd would fight because he was the smaller man. I think he would have eventually hit the wall against Valuev. The next WBA fight might be the future of the division as it will be all Soviet affair. World heavyweight fights might all look like this in 2010.....

I read one article in which it said that Valuev takes the fight out of men. Neither Larry Donald nor Owen Beck have fought again since fighting Valuev, but Valuev has fought three times since then. Then McCline blows out his knee. Maybe there is something to Valuev after all.

Don King said, "Valuev hit him so hard he broke his knee." Or something to that effect.

Congrats to Valuev! I wish I had seen the fight, although it doesn't sound there was a lot to it.

What was the official ruling? Did they go to the scorecards? TKO?

TKO.

It was judged the same as Vitali's shoulder injury against Chris Byrd.

Thanks, Shogun.

Well, unfortunately we didn't see that much of him, but Valuev did look better in this fight than he did in the Barrett fight. More fluid, relaxed, less predictable, he threw some left hooks, some uppercuts. McCline put together some good combinations in the 3rd, but nothing devastating. Valuev has offensive skill, and his defense will determine his success against better competition. I would be very worried for him if he fought Peter or Briggs.

Man, Valuev is so big that he even makes McCline look small! And that dude is over 260 pounds!
