I'm hoping Cote will pull a Serra and KO Silva, leaving him rolling around on the mat trying to avoid blows like GSP. Hey, I'm HOPING, not PREDICTING, lol.
How about the Koscheck - Alves fight? Don't know if you guys had heard this but Koscheck remarked that Matt Hughes was unathletic, slow, and white. This was a while back, but I thought it relevant to post here just in case anyone was even thinking about rooting for him. Alves just beat Hughes but I'm hoping he decapitates Koscheck anyway.

Lackluster card really. Not sure why Rich Clementi is making main card appearances now. The only other fight I'm really interested in is Sherk v Tyson Griffin. Rooting for Sherk all the way.

Cote seems to be a very big Middle. When he fought Light Heavy I think he was often overpowered. I have yet to see him manhandled at middle weight. Who knows? My heart is with Cote, but I think Silva stops him.
A Cote knockout would go a long way to helping me cope with Kelly's loss.
I am still pissed about the Pavlik fight.

He and Bobby Southworth were low lifes for what they did to Chris Leben on the UFC reality show a few years ago and nothing has changed.
I didn't see it, but from what I read Cote hurt his knee bad, tried to get up but the ref stopped it. Should have been a NC rather than a TKO people are saying.
On the brighter side Sherk won, and Alves beat Koscheck.

It wasn't a faked injury. Cote did make it to the third round, but Silva played with him for the first two rounds. He never really went after Cote at all.
At various points in the fight, Silva was waving his hands around in the air like he was casting a spell or weaving. Another time he literally ran almost completely around the Octagon. There were short, intermittent bursts of action but the fight mainly consisted of Cote following Silva around the cage, but you did not get the impression watching the fight that Cote was actually 'in control.'
I commented to the people with whom I was watching the fight that it made me think that Silva had his people place a significant bet on the over/under number of rounds that the fight would go past two rounds. It was that obvious.

i had a chance to watch the fight, and Shogun is right about the lack of action in the first couple of rounds. but i took it as a sign that Silva respected Cote's knockout power and superior strength on the ground, especially after a brief flurry where the two exchanged punches that seemed to surprise Silva as Cote gave as good as he got. another exchange showed Silva to be unwilling to engage Cote on the ground, at least from my perspective.
Silva dictated the fight, or rather the lack of activity, but Cote showed he certainly deserved to be in the fight. the lack of action took away some of the appeal to me, though.
the injury was a freak, non-contact knee injury when the two were standing up and Cote was preparing to move in. it just looked like his right knee blew out. they showed his knee being iced after the fight, and it was already swollen something fierce. it looked ugly.
very frustrating ending to a close contest where neither fighter had hurt his opponent yet. after the 3 rounds being so very close, i thought it should have been a no contest.
of course, i'm not nearly as knowledgable about UFC as you guys. so take that into account.

What is Tyson Griffin. I was cheering for Sherk. I like Sherk alot. He is my favorite lightweight. Anyway, Griffin looks like he may have a touch of African in him. I don't really know. maybe one of you Gentlemen can fill me in.Edited by: aussieaussie31
UFC 90 did help showcase another top prospect for UFC in the 185 division, that being Dan Miller. Miller defeated Matt Horwitch the former IFL middleweight champion by unanimous decision. Miller improves his record to 10-1 with his only loss a split decison coming against another UFC prospect Mike Massenzio. Mazzenzio has a record of 11-2 with a first round submission against Drew Mcfederes in his debut. Both these guys are in their mid-twenties and I think given a few years and the right training could be champions.
