Vettori gets the shot, unlike most I don't have the opinion that it is such a huge injustice that he got it over Whittaker,
which is probably in part due to Whittaker being former champ + having a much larger fanbase and being much more popular.

I feel that Vettori is still quite green, he had some trouble in his last fight when Holland was going for broke during striking exchanges.
Should he win he would be the youngest UFC champ currently.

Nasty finish by Craig and a bad stoppage by the ref, Adesanya pit-patters Vettori to a decision win,
Vettori had some takedowns and moments but he didn't seem to able to capitalize fully and get a finish, and plodded alot.
There was also some tension between him and his corner as well as disagreements,
he is still young so it's far from his only chance but he seems to have a temper, receiving criticism poorly.

I thought "plodding" was also the right word to describe Vettori's fight. He threw some punches but didn't press the issue and chase Adesanya, who was determined to stay on his feet. I don't know whether or not Adesanya's kicks were really as damaging as the announcers made it out, but I agree that it looked poor to eat so many shots to the calf and thigh. Vettori *almost* cinched in a rear naked choke but missed the moment and could not get Adesanya on the ground enough to use his strength.
