The Titanic

The days of the ocean liners were cool. There would have been nothing like traveling on a ship for a week to 4 weeks to actually go somewhere, instead of today just going on a cruise like we do today. Einstein traveled from Germany to LA in the 30's and it took him 28 days . There is something romantic about that instead of just getting on a plane now.

The ships in the early 20th century really looked good. They had a sleekness about them. Now the ships are just like big boxes.

I have seen some great pictures of all the liners lined up at the dock in NYC.

In many ways, it was. That year was a decent year for the U.S., despite the Titanic disaster. The real disasters were to hit the following year in the creation of the odious Federal Reserve and the introduction of the first permanent income tax.
