A 10-year-old lie about who fathered her child resulted in a 10-year prison sentence for rape yesterday for Twyana Davis.
Davis, now 30, pleaded guilty this year to a sexual relationship with a 12-year-old cousin in 1995 that resulted in the birth of her daughter.
For years, Davis said she was raped at a party. She wrote a book about her experiences with an unwanted pregnancy and started a foundation to help expectant mothers deal with child bearing.
But when her daughter was born, in November 1995, she tossed it in a trash bin at Ohio Dominican College The baby survived, and Davis, convicted of child endangering, was granted probation in Franklin County Common Pleas Court. She later regained custody of the child she named Danielle
