I don't know if any of you watched the NFL channel's "Playbook" program
last weekend, but I was shocked to see Sterling Sharpe do a long piece
on the white WRs and DBs playing in the NFL. Believe it or not, he was
pretty fair and totally positive about Stokely and Bennett and
mentioned a personal anecdote about ex-Falcons CB Scott Case. Sharpe
said he once ran the best route he ever ran against Case, but found him
sticking to him like glue, and when he got back to the bench he told
some skeptcial teammates, "he can play." I was VERY impressed with
Sharpe and have to think that no white reporter could have gotten away
with this piece. Of course, I can't think of any white sports
"journalist" who believes white players can play in the NFL.

damn, i watched it last night but not closely. maybe they'll repeat it today before the next show?

Thanks for the updates guys.I wish I got that channel but keep us posted on anything else.Sharpe also got to
play along side McCaffrey so that probably also showed
him that whites can be excellent receivers.

I remember Sharpe doing a piece on Seahorn 5 or 6 years ago that startled me in its honesty - Sharpe said he felt "channeling" was going on, with whites being "encouraged" to stay away from "speed" positions and the like.

I also saw this segment. It featured Don Maynard, Fred Belitnikoff, and Steve Largent. He was talking about old school recievers, and after showing some clips of their playing days, Sharpe said something to the effect of "The one thing that all 3 of these guys have in common, is that they are all WHITE!" I honestly was shocked that they would ever even acknowledge the fact that some of the greatest WR's to ever play the game were white men. It was definately a breath of fresh air to see some of the spotlight go to white WR's
