These two light heavyweights will be fighting June 16 in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania. For those of you who don't know, Kovalev is the light heavyweight champion of the world in waiting. He is as exciting to watch and as much of a knock out artist as 140 lb king Lucas Matthysse. Cornelius White is a thin, former super middleweight.

This fight will not last long. I expect Kovalev to waste White in 3 rounds or less. White will not be able to run. It won't do him any good. Kovalev hits really hard while on the move and in any direction. He is very mobile, fast of foot and hand, leads, counters, solid chin, everything.

One more fight after this one and Kovalev will be someone's mandatory challenger.

Apparently Murat couldn't get a visa to fight "in" the "United States". The Hopkins/Murat fight is off. The winner of Kovalev/White is allegedly to be the mandatory challenger. Since we already know Kovalev is going to kill White (he's actually black), I doubt, I really doubt, Hopkins will face Kovalev. I just don't think Kovalev could be so lucky as to get the chance to send Hopkins out in the cold and out of boxing. Something will happen to prevent that fight from ever happening.

Oh gee! Go figure! Ambrose called this fight to the round:

"This fight will not last long. I expect Kovalev to waste White in 3 rounds or less. White will not be able to run. It won't do him any good. Kovalev hits really hard while on the move and in any direction. He is very mobile, fast of foot and hand, leads, counters, solid chin, everything."

Like I said, I'm not surprised at all. Kovalev is the light heavyweight champion apparent. The dopey fans just haven't figured it out yet. I know you regular posters here (such as Cacharias, West, Specialist, et al) would agree.

Watched this fight with my older brother and some friends! What a great knockout.

Sergey fought amazing and scored a highly impressive knockout win. Sergey looked nothing short of sensational. His hand speed, power, and boxing ability is just superb. Sergey started the fight very fast, landing power punches within seconds of the fight starting. White`s legs never looked steady and for the whole fight Sergey`s power was affecting him.

Sergey is really just demolishing all of these guys he`s fighting in like 1 or 2 or 3 rounds. Lol! He is like a knockout machine! I do give credit to Cornelius White, he took some big punches, and did well to hang on for 3 rounds, he showed a good heart.

Apparently, Kovalev is now the mandatory challenger to Bernard Hopkins. I have a hard time believing Hopkins would ever take that risk and fight Kovalev. I don`t believe Golden Boy would want Bhop to fight Sergey, because he will be seen as too much of a risk. Hopkins is very tricky, very defensive, and has never been knocked out. But he`s looked very vulnerable in his past few fights, and quite frankly I think Kovalev would knock Bernard out or make him quit in the ring with some kind of `injury`(like he did in his first fight VS Dawson).

I`ll be surprised if Bernard actually fights Kovalev and I think its more likely that Bernard voluntarily gives up his title/ delays the defense as long as possible / fights someone else. Since Kovalev is now the mandatory, though, in the next year that fight will have to take place or Bernard will lose his title. IBF is usually one of the fairer organizations and likely won`t grant too many extensions to Bernard.

My guess: Bernard gives up the title to avoid the risk of being knocked out by the Russian.

Sergey continues to impress. Last night he dispatched a competent black fighter in White with ease. Looks like the world will be his.

I can not see Bopkins fighting this man. And if he does, Sergey should be able to steam roll Bopkins or make him quit, after all he is 45 yrs old.

Look forward to his continued success.

Good call Ambrose on the outcome, it appears you nailed it!

I don't care what anyone says! This guy is the best light heavy on the planet. Popkins would never face him.

Kovalev has one of the best jabs in boxing. He is constantly calculating his distance to his opponents and understands boxing on an elite level. That, combined with his explosive hand speed and punching power makes him easily the number 1 light heavy right now in my eyes. I too, think that Hopkins will come up with every excuse under the sun to not fight him.

Great call Ambrose! You nailed it. Also I agree with whiteathlete33 that Bopkins will find a way around facing Kovolev somehow.

Great result for Kovalev,i though White may of given him problems. The best Lt heavies in the world are white.Kovalev-Cleverly could be a superfight down the line.Kovalev[obviously] has the big edge in power but Clev who is cut from the same cloth as Calaghe imo has the superior handspeed and work rate.

Hopkins is a tough fight for anyone because when he's in there with a fast guy like Calzaghe he will do a ton of holding and he knows every trick in the book. Calzaghe didn't have the power to knock a guy like Hopkins out. Kovalev does but old man Popkins would use his dirty tricks. Why would Popkins take the fight unless it was mandatory? He gains nothing out of fighting Kovalev and it's a very dangerous fight for him. He could make more money fighting a black fighter in the US. He won't fight this guy anywhere but the US where the racist Adelaide Byrd will score the fight for him no matter how dominant Kovalev is.

No way does Hopkins fight a white guy that can beat him. Sergey will probably fight Bute next.
