Rape of children (even infants) common in Africa

In South Africa:

- a 4-year-old girl died after being raped by her father

- an 8-month-old infant was reportedly gang raped by four men

- a 14-month-old girl was raped by her two uncles

- about 30% of sexual offences in South Africa involved children aged 0-10 years

- rape statistics for South Africa in particular have gone up instead of down over the past 5 years

- now 1 in every 2 women in South Africa are raped at some time (used to be 1 in 3)

In the US, rape data for a 45-year period revealed that blacks were arrested for rape an average of 6.52 times more often than whites, despite being a much smaller percentage of the US population.

My political science professor talked about the raping of kids in Africa. There is this false belief that if you have aids and have sex with a virgin then you give the aids to them and you don't have it anymore. Well they started raping young teens. Then teen virgins were hard to find, then 10-12, then they are getting hard to find, so the ages keep getting younger. So not only do they not mind raping someone, they also don't care whether a child has aids, as long as they don't (except they still do). I am sure this isn't the only reason behind it though. Sickening.
