Bill Parcells leaves Dallas Cowboys -- retires from coaching

0907parcells6.jpg

IRVING, Texas The Dallas Cowboys today lost 65-year-old coach Bill Parcells to retirement.

So who's next for the Cowboys?

The next coach will be only the seventh in team history and the sixth hired by team owner Jones.

Tom Landry made the Cowboys coaching job synonymous with winning during his 29 years.

Jimmy Johnson and Barry Switzer kept it up by combining to win three Super Bowls.

The Cowboys haven't won a playoff game since 1996, under Switzer.

Chan Gailey, Dave Campo and now Parcells couldn't end the skid.

The Associated Press reports Jones could go for proven commodities like Tennessee's Jeff Fisher or Bill Cowher, who recently resigned from Pittsburgh.

Jones might also chase a big-name college coach, from Notre Dame's Charlie Weis, Oklahoma's Bob Stoops to Southern California's Pete Carroll.

Jones could pursue Chicago defensive coordinator Ron Rivera, or former N-F-L coaches like San Diego defensive coordinator Wade Phillips or San Francisco offensive coordinator Norv Turner. Turner called plays for the Cowboys Super Bowl team in 1992.

Why would he want to leave now? His team was improving.Could TO have been a factor?

Parcells is perfectionist and a control freak. Jones interferes too much and Bill won't get over the top with that group of players. Also the TO drama was dragging him down. He is pretty old school and can't put up with drama queens like TO...

The "Rooney Rule",which just blossomed in Pittsburgh,to the joy of "so many fans",and all of the media, will be set into motion again!

We cheer our disenfranchisement, what a uniquely Western concept!Make no mistake about it,our destruction comes from within!

I'll bet it was more than just T.O. When Parcells andhis fellowhead coaches began to implement the Caste System in a hard-core way in the mid-1980s, black athletes weren't as out of control as they are now. It's when the inmates were allowed to take full control of the asylum that black dysfunctionality came to full blossom, reminiscent of the behavior in the "Edumacation" thread in Happy Hour. T.O. is merely the most visible tip of a huge iceberg of criminality, boorish behavior, unfathomable selfishness, and poor play. Parcells and his white cohorts created a monster and I don't have the least bit of sympathy for him. Good riddance, Billy Boy, and thanks for the memories -- not!

Poor ol' Bill didn't realize the current crop of psychos have been listening to hip-hop all day everyday since birth. The NFL needs to hire a whole slew of African -American coaches to deal with them.

I was listening to the Dan Patrick show this afternoon. The topic of discussion was the retirement of Bill Parcells. What I am about to report is not an exaggeration. This call actually occurred:

A black caller contacted the show to proffer his opinion on Bill's retirement. He said that he found it very coincidental that Bill Parcells decided to retire the day after two black coaches win championship games to meet in the Super Bowl. He actually said that Parcells retired because he realized he couldn't hang with the new crop of up and coming African American coaches. That he is outdated and stale, and knows he will be outcoached by the black coaches moving up in the league.

Patrick and Olberman seemed a bit flabbergasted and began laughing softly. The black caller became a little irate and said, 'You think it's funny? You think what I'm sayin' is funny?' Patrick immediately said it's not funny, and asked the caller if he actually thought Parcells retired because he didn't want to compete against black coaches. Olberman asked him if he actually thought Parcells retired because he thought he wasn't in Tony Dungy's and Lovie Smith's league?

The black caller said, 'that's exactly what I'm sayin'.'

They cut him off and neither of them said anything at first. Patrick said here we go with the race card. It took what, a day and a half for someone to play the race card? Geez.

There was literally a minute or so of dead air before they took the next call.

And people think that we here at Caste Football are crazy racial conspiracy theorists. If we weren't talking about Bill Parcells, or if this conversation was about a white quarterback, no one would think twice at taking such a ridiculous idea seriously.
