Since when is a guy(Sam Bradford) 1/16th Native American a member of a tribe? I know that in Canada you need to be 1/8th aboriginal to qualify for Indian Status. Does the US government set these standards or does each individual tribe? I know the Pequot tribe was re-established and only requires 1/16th blood for tribal status. I know Trump and other casino owners fought the tribes assertion for gaming rights and argued along the lines that tribe wasn't really a tribe.Edited by: white is right

He's only 1/16th Indian? He looks more than that. He looks more Indian than both of his parents. Strange thing...I'm half Indian yet I'm white as hell

Sports Illustrated did a big story on him a few months back, centering on his being an "Indian" even though he is just 1/16. The tribe his tiny bit of Indian ancestry is from idolizes him (I can't recall which tribe it is). It's pretty pathetic really: that the Indians consider him one of their own, and that Caste SI portrays him as an Indian despite such a tiny amount of Indian blood.

I'm 1/16 indian and I'll never ever consider myself to be an indian, that's just dumb. You can't even see the difference, just a very slight difference in skin tone.

What's happened to the Indians is sad, though I don't consider them "Native Americans" as there was no country here when the white settlers began arriving, just a bunch of Stone Age Indian tribes scattered over a huge continent, who, to the extent they had contact, often warred against each other. Whites shouldn't feel guilty about settling and developing this fertile land. That's the story of history over and over.

The lessonIndians offer is what happens to a people that is conquered physically and psychologically. Whites haven't been directly conquered physically, at least not yet, but the vast majority of our people are defeated psychologically. We are fast following the Indians in being dispossessed. The biggest difference is that whites still don't come close to comprehending what's happening. Most don't even know they have racial enemies; other whiteswelcome the destruction of the white race. Only a very tiny percentage see the bigger picture when it comes to how and why the United States is being plundered and transformed from within.Edited by: Don Wassall

While I am about 1/32 Indian total, I'm white. If I was Sam Bradford, I would tell the media that I'm white, not "Native American." I knew this would happen if he won the H Trophy. Just another reason why I wanted Tebow to win it. Edited by: Colonel_Reb

I used to work with a guy who was blonde and green-eyed. He talked about participating in his "tribe's" annual gathering ceremonies in full buckskin regalia.

Bradford looks very much like an Eskimo.

Bradford certainly does look to have indian blood. His parents however; at the the Heisman did not. I have no problem with the media getting excited about Sam having Cherokee. Honestly when was the last time any person of indian blood has been in he national spotlight? If any minority has been treated bad in the history of our country, it has been them. Sam admittedly said he does not know much of his indian ancestry. He was raised white, i see him being a role model to indians and whites alike!

Yeah I noticed that too. His father looked white and his mother looked white. I figured he was adopted. I know Brett Farve has never claimed to be Indian and he has significantly more aboriginal ancestry than Bradford.
