List of Olympians that could do well in MMA.

Jake Varner- age 26 6'1 212lbs
Jake went to Iowa State were he had Cayle Sanderson as his coach, and he also had the youngest Gracie Jui-Jitsu black belt Ricky Lundell on the team. Lundell is now a 3 time national champ. In college Varner was a four time NCAA D1 finalist and two time NCAA D1 champ at 197. Varner finished his senoir year with a record of 31-0 and had a carrer record of 121-10. Varner then won a gold in the Pan-Am games in 2011 and 2012 was an Olympic Gold Medalist at 96kg.

How do his numbers compare to Daniel Cormier
Cormier is 33 years old 5'11 and 245lbs, he was a 2 time Junior College National Champ for Colby Community College and was an NCAA runner-up. (Lost to Cael Sanderson for the Championship). Cormier finished third in the world championships in 03 and was fourth in the in the Olympics in 04 in 96kg, and he did not compete in 08 due to kidney failure.

Jake Herbert- age 27 6'1 185lbs
Herbert wrestled for Northwestern and was a four time All-American and a two time National Champ at 184. was in the Olympics and lost out to a controversial call, he also was in a very tough weight class. Herbert has trained at FloMMA, Andrei Arlovski's gym. Herbert is sort of in the Josh Koscheck mold, he is very quick and incredible overpowering.

Travis Stevens- age 26 6'1 178lbs
Stevens is a two time Olympian in Judo and even though he didn't do great he is ranked higher than Bellator contender Rick Hawn, who was also a Judo Olympian. Stevens is also a BJJ brown belt under Renzo Gracie, and has trained with many MMA fighter.

Thanks for posting that Hawkeye. I was curious which of the Olympic wrestlers might be good fit(s) for MMA. I always felt '96 gold medalist Kurt Angle would have dominated (late 90s, early 00s) had he came to MMA versus pro "wrasslin". He said the $$ was better with the WWF at that time.
