most of you have probably never heard of Mindaugas Katelynas, but to my knowledge he is the only white man to ever win the collegiate dunk contest put on by ESPN at the end of each basketball season.

anyway, he was a first-team all-conference performer at the University of Tennessee-Chattanooga after transferring from junior college (College of Eastern Utah). he played out of position as a power forward/center, but still managed to dominate with his high flying offensive attacks.

check out this video of Mindaugas soaring. and please listen to how the stupid negro commentator described his style of play! what a fool!

Katelynas was completely ignored by the NBA in the 2005 Draft, despite just brimming with "upside," which is allegedly what the NBA draftniks drool over. since that time, he's bounced around the fringes of the NBA a bit, but mainly has been tearing it up in Europe.

he signed with AJ Milano of the top Italian League (Serie A) in mid-December. he is now a muscular 6-9 and is still playing above the rim on both ends of the floor.

here is his official website, with even more impressive videos to watch.

with his phenomenal athleticism and physically imposing physique, i wonder why he isn't in the NBA?

I saw him win the dunk contest. It was cool.

He's not an NBA player though. He did not do much in the NBA summer league.

It's OK. He'll be on the Lithuanian team that beats the latest all-black, all-hype, U.S. "Dream Team" in the Olympics this summer.

There was another white guy back in the early to mid 90's but I can't remember his name. He dunked over a ball rack during the contest. I will try to find out his name.

Didn't David Anderson or Rex Chapman ever win won in college? I know if they entered it, they would have probably won. Both of these guys won national high school slam dunk contests like Chase Budinger who is now at the University of Arizona.

WL,

i don't know who you are thinking of, but there are LOTS of examples of phenomenal white leapers who never got a real shot at the NBA. Marko Milic and Casey Calvary immediately come to mind.

Milic won a dunk contest overseas by leaping OVER A CAR and has had a strong career in Europe.

Casey Calvary was the power forward for Gonzaga back when they first gained national attention for being a white team that kicked ass. he OWNED Cincy's Kenyon Martin in their matchup that year, including dunking his nuts all in Martin's face in one of the nastiest dunks i have ever seen! yet you can see which athletic big man got a shot at the NBA and which did not.

Calvary had a solid pro career in Europe and Australia, but i don't know if he is still playing.

Rex Chapman did earn second place in the NBA All-Star dunk contest early in his career.
