I was looking at some pics of the Kansas Relays and saw another new face in the 100 meters.Mike Myer won his heat in a time of 10.40! Not earth shattering but a win non the less.Maybe we will have another college sprinter that we can follow. They have a good pic of him over at trackshark.com in the Kansas Relays Pics Section.Does anyone have any other info on this guy.I'm going to try to find out more myself.

It looks like he also finished 2nd in the 200 meters in a time of 21.16! He is only a sophmore and he has already set or broke some of the school records at Kansas State.Way to go Mike.He has alot of sprinting ahead of him with two years of eligibility left.

If he can get his time down about a tenth he will qualify for the US trials, which is good measure of your abilities. He should be able to do it as the good weather is about start....

I had this from January. Was in the Lukas Hulett thread...

Myer is from Shawnee Mission, Kansas and had been a soccer player at Graceland.

Graceland University - Set the indoor 200-meter school record with a clocking of 21.93... Set the outdoor 100-meter school record at 10.57... Finished seventh at the NAIA Indoor National Championships in the 200... Finished 10th at the NAIA Outdoor National Championships in the 100 and 200...

I was watching the Big 12 Track Championships on TV today and saw Myer finish 4th in the 100m with a 10.36. He was leading the race until the last 10 meters and lost by about 2 feet. He also ran a 20.82 in the 200m just missing the finals. Both times are regional qualifying times. Way to go Mike.

Damn I can believe that I missed that.I hope someone posts this on youtube.com This kid has some really great potential.I have always favored sprinters who can run both the 100 & 200 meters races.I just think that they usually tend to be better sprinters.Mike is very young and on the right track.Soccers loss is Tracks gain.Keep up the great sprinting Mike!

Not a bad time. He is a senior and I was hoping he would be in the 10.20's range by now. Regardless, Mike ran a very nice race today. I hope he can finish the year out strong. If track fails, he can aways be a comedian/actor in the next Austin Powers Movie.

Myer ran a 10.33 in the prelims of the NCAA midwest regional. Hopefully he can break 10.30 in the finals.

Come on Money Mike. You can do it. We want to see a time in the 10.20's and for him to continue his running after he graduates. No more school and alot of training could possibly take him to the next level with the right coach!

I just wanted to post this short article about Mike Myer. He tied the school record and showed Kansas State pride. I hope he continues running. The picture of him here sprinting is cool. He looks like a cross between Jared Connaughton and Michael LeBlanc. I didn't realize he was so muscular. Congrats on a nice season Mike.

if i recall correctly, Mike was the ONLY white runner to run in the 100 meters at the National Championship meet here in Arkansas. while he gave a good accounting of himself by making the semi-finals, the lack of white participants in the sprints is really frustrating.

take for example my home state of Arkansas ... while the top overall sprinter is a white junior, he is the exception rather than the rule when it comes to white speedsters in the state. the plain and simple truth is most fast white sprinters in Arkansas don't runtrack (at least not seriously). instead, in the fall they play football and in the spring they play baseball.

for instance, the two fastest official 40 times i could find in the '09 senior class were both held by white kids, neither of whom run track. but they both play baseball. Franco Broyles is another example of the top of my head. he was an incrediblecornerback this year at Fayetteville, but he doesn't run track. he plays baseball, and he'll be playing for the Razorback baseball team in college. while i couldn't find an official 40 time for him (estimates range from the low 4.4s to the high 4.4s), he was heavily recruited by numerous D-I baseball clubs because of his phenomenal speed.

these three guys, among many others, could all possibly be strong sprinters. but NONE of them even go out for track. it's frustrating.

Another 5 star post by Jimmy! That is the problem in track. Just like
years ago in boxing when we just didn't have the numbers to compete. Now
boxing is popular in Europe and look what has happened. We dominate. If
only the same could happen in track, I would be a happy camper!

One more thing. Since blacks dominate the sprints in America due to lack
of participation by enough whites, then why does Casey Combest still
have the fastest high school 60 meters ever run? No one has ever even
been close. I would be willing to bet that their are more just like him
but they never set foot on a track. The other thing is that blacks
mature physically at a younger age, so it makes what Casey and others
have done even more amazing. If more white kids ran the 100 & 200 in
college, you would see the results. We just don't have the numbers to
compete. We need a marketing program to get more white youth interested
in track.

Mike Myers will be running in the USA Track & Field Champs this weekend. I hope he runs a p.b. as he gets his feet wet for the first time running along side the pros. Maybe he can get some advice as well if he decides to try and continue his career. I would love to see him run in Europe for the next couple of years to see if he can take it to another level. Good luck Mike.
