I won't be shelling out the 50 bucks to watch but I do hope Maskaev can pull it out.

Rahman didn't respect him the first time and truth be told he doesn't respect him now either. We all know why.

There are actually some great articles on ESPN about Maskaev.

This article focuses on Maskaev, his life before boxing in the Soviet Union, and his immigration to the United States.

To prove his love for the United States, Maskaev showed up at Wednesday's news conference at the Wynn Las Vegas resort with his citizenship certificate in hand. And to further make his point, his team wore T-shirts with Maskaev's picture emblazoned on an American flag.

"I would say I'm a proud Russian-American," Maskaev said. "So right now, I'm a citizen of America, of [the] United States. I have four kids, and the last of them, she's an American, too. She was born here. I had a great opportunity here to get a good education for my kids and a house and to make my wife happy. She's really happy to be here. This is the American Dream."

The other article discusses Maskaev's career and the early mistakes his managers made in securing fights against top-tier fighters while Maskaev was still green.

"It's been an odd career," reflected boxing scribe Graham Houston of the Web site FightWriter.com. "His early management threw him in the deep end; the McCall fight was just a horrendous fight to take. I think at times, he's fought like a fighter who half-expected to get knocked out. Against Corey Sanders, he was winning it so easily but as soon as he got hit, he just fell apart."

Read this article at Eastside Boxing and you will see why white people have more in common with a Kazak immigrant than a native born black American.

Rude and uncivilized behavior on the part of the Rahman team, including his children! (Where's GreatLakeState and his genetics commentary?) We can only hope that Maskaev will knock Rahman out again.

All the immigrant-does-good stories abound when we're talking about Mexicans and Asians, but what about the poor Kazak kid who became an American citizen and has a shot at the heavyweight championship of the world? Edited by: White Shogun

I'm sorry to keep posting on top of myself, but thought I'd let everyone see what's up next for the winner of Maskaev/Rahman:

The WBC has ruled that the winner of the Rahman/Maskaev fight must defend his title against James Toney.

I hate boxing.

When Ghetto Moslem Hasim Rahman is considered "America's Last Line of Defense" it has to be a sign that we have almost lost our country.

Most of the comments at the end of the article sound like they could have come from CF, not many in favor of our American champ and his hip hop entourage.

I'm not American,but what an insult to have Baltimore loudmouth Rahman billed as America's last line of defence.I was never a fan of Lewis but i wanted him to knock Rahman's block off in their rematch because of the discraceful conduct of Rahman.He's as ghetto as you can get.In their first fight,Rahman's supporters started a near riot,no doubt race related when their fellow was knocked out and through the ropes onto the judges ringside table similar to the race riot proceeding the first Bowe/Golota fight when Bowes Black urbanite supporters many let in for free because of poor ticket sales badly beat up the very outnumbered Polish fans with chairs,bottles etc after seeing Golota shellack Bowe for ten rounds.No doubt Rahman will have the same sort of presence behind him in this fight.I can only hope the Kazak pulls off a repeat of the first fight and knock out America's last line of defence.

So Rahman is America's "only current world heavyweight champion," huh? Used to be that was a good thing when there was only one champion.

"He won the fight by a draw."

Truly bad writers have a comic gift. Ms. McConnell, whoever she is, seems to be a natural.

Rahman wouldn't even be there if Klitchko hadn't kept getting hurt.

Rahman has had a bi-polar career, even by boxing standards. Great KOs against Sanders and Lewis. Lapses against Tua and Lewis. One fight he showed up looking like the Michelin man. His slo-mo show against Toney. He looks ready for this one, though. If he doesn't get worn out listening to Hype-man.

Maskaev has worked his way back and had to win an eliminator to get this chance. They didn't just pull him off driving a cab, which is what I thought when I first heard of this fight. He looks in great shape. I just don't know about his chin.

Rahman comes in too psyched up, over commits with his attack and Maskeav cooly times him with the best right hand he ever threw. In the ensuing riot, Hype-Man is beat up and his golden crown is stolen off his undersized head. That's my script anyway.
