Mordecai "Three Finger" Brown was a famous pitcher in the early part of the 20th century, his nickname deriving from a mishap that cost him two digits on one hand. In a fitting gesture for today's era of greatly lowered standards of acceptable behavior, Jets rookie RB Leon Washington is now famous for two of his fingers.
This is of particular interest to card collectors. I haven't seen the card but my guess is that Topps let Washington's double middle finger salute slide on purpose. Remember the obscenity that was on Billy Ripken's bat on a card some 15 years ago? There's no way that card could have slid by without proofreaders catching it. The Ripkencard instantly became quite valuable, as will Washington's.
