What are some of the keys of success to forming a winning high school football team? Do you need a large population to pick the best athletes for your team or can you still put out acompetitive team with a smaller population? Do you need to have tradition? How much does discipline factor into a football team?I have been wanting to post a topic about this for a while now b\c I have noticed a lot of talented white players come from the same high schools. Ex. Nease in FL, Jenks in OK, Oaks Christian in CA, Don Bosco in NJ, and Southlake in TX, etc. In my opinion tradition helps, but also the thought of starting a tradition can be a powerful motivator. IDK if there is one clear cut answer, it is probably a mixture of several factors.

I am just wondering how some of these areas(most are suburban schools made up of mostly white kids) have built their programs to such prominence. I'd appreciate your opinions and thoughts.Edited by: celticdb15

-good youth football program (like Pop Warner)
-rich tradition and town support
-good coaches
-a hardworking and athletic white team that operates as a cohesive unit.

Can't think of anything else.
