Casey's one catch was a nice one-handed grab that he had to stretch out for and pull in. Impressive.
I lost interest in the NFL more than a decade ago but watched the Texans game against KC last night to check out Kevin Walter. Houston has a number of good white players at reciever.
Casey can also play in the slot as well.

Owens Daniels is unhappy with his contract situation. It would probably be better if he ends up being traded or leaving as a free agent. That way Casey can replace Daniels, who will start for someone else. That's better than two very talented tight ends being on the same team.

Casey is expected to return from knee surgery for Monday night's game against the Titans. The rookie will come off the bench behind Joel Dreessen, but is worth monitoring as a deep sleeper down the stretch. We all know about the role that Owen Daniels had in this offense before he went down.

Dreessen's hardly been used as a receiver in the two games since Daniels went down so it would be nice to see Casey step up. Daniels is a FA at the end of the season if i remember correctly, so this could be Casey's audition for the starting job for next year and beyond.
This is good news. Kubiak is quoted as saying this week that Casey will play a big part in the team's offense the rest of the season as soon as he's healthy. I hope so because in CF's Lambert fantasy football league I just picked Casey up after losing Owen Daniels and Chris Cooley to injuries. From rotoworld:

Hehe. You already have a monster team. You have Peyton Manning, Matt Schaub, Donald Driver, and Beason. I would kill to have Manning on my fantasy team. Carson Palmer has played decent this season but isn't throwing enough td passes to score more points.
My team is pretty weak at RB, and now at TE with the loss of Daniels and Cooley. Hopefully Casey will pick up a sizeable chunk of Daniels' production.

I also started Drew Bennett and Brandon Stokley who both went over 1,000 yards that season before being "put down." That team just rolled over everyone.

Dixie has done that this year with his all white team. From what I remember he only has one black one the team in Nate Clements. The problem with an all white team is no runningbacks who receive meaningful carries to choose from. Every other position you can do good with. Since their are no actual white cornerbacks in the league you justplay safeties like Weddle and get good points out of them.
I don't even try to get white players in the Lambert League because they always go fast. In other leagues I can usually pick and choose which ones I want because they're almost always undervalued except for quarterbacks. That championship team I mentioned above had black RBs and some black defensive players starting. You can't win a highly competitive league with an all white team but you can win with a team that's about half white give or take.
I don't know if James Casey will start if Owen Daniels isn't ready to play, but he's coming on strong and can be as good as Daniels. The Texans will probably use Dreessen over Casey, at least at the beginning of the season, but Casey is a great athlete, a lot like Rob Gronkowski of the Pats. From Weenieworld:

I've watched James Casey Highlights from his career at Rice. To me he looks like he could be used as a rotational power runner (ie. Michael Bush) as well as a starting H-back/ TE. Casey could cause a match up nightmare lining up in formations for different roles. As a TE, he's kind of like Jacob Tamme.
