Brahmer is 31-1 with 25kos ranked 9th at boxrec. According to boxrec he had 95-5 amateur record which includes two wins at welterweight over Ricky Hatton, one of which was a 1st round KO. Beat Sturm and Froch on points. Word is he'll fight Yuri Barashian an Armenian-Ukrainian for the vacant WBA Light Heavyweight title since Green retired. So either way we'll get that belt back

This dude means business! A few more fights, and he's in line for a title shot. I can't wait to see him go up against the likes of Cotto, Paquiao, Marquez, and Diaz. He is the true successor of Ricky Hatton.

From Fightnews

European light heavyweight champion Jürgen Brähmer (32-2, 26 KOs) needed just seconds to annihilate mandatory challenger Antonio Brancalion (32-6-2, 8 KOs) on Saturday night at the Kö*** Pilsener Arena in Oberhausen. Brähmer, who is again rated WBA #1 contender, dropped Brancalion four times in round one, before the fight was waved off by referee Terry O'Connor. Brancalion is #11 in the WBA rankings.

Erdei Relinquishes WBO Title

erdei.jpg

Jürgen Brähmer is now the full WBO light heavyweight world champion. Long-standing WBO 175lb world champion Zsolt Erdei has relinquished the belt to move up to cruiserweight to challenge WBC world champion Giaccobe Fragomeni on November 21st in Kiel, Germany. Brähmer is Universum Box-Promotion's 33rd pro world champion.

Also, an opponent has been named for Brähmer's first defense on December 19 in his hometown of Schwerin. The "Hundred Year Talent" will face unbeaten Russian Dmitry Sukhotsky (14-0, 9 KOs), the WBO-Europa titleholder and #10 in the WBO ratings.

"I am very glad that I've have finally reached my big goal to be a professional world champion," stated Brähmer. "Of course, now I have to win on December 19th against Sukhotsky as an obligation to Zsolt. But with the title I am still far from the end. I would like to win convincingly in many good world championship fights and show that I deserve to carry this belt."

Erdei commented, "I wish Jürgen a lot of fun and a lot of luck with the belt. He shouldn't merely just lose it. Now I'm going to get the WBC belt of Mr. Fragomeni and become the first Hungarian boxer to win world titles in in two weight classes."

Promoter Dietmar Pozawa added, "After nearly six years as a WBO world champion, Zsolt Erdei very much wanted his next fight to be another big highlight in his career. We worked on two title unifications, but unfortunately in each case the negotiations failed shortly before the end. Then the possibility came up for us to box for the WBC belt at cruiserweight. We sat down to a table with all involved parties and put together this great fight for Zsolt. In boxing history, not too many boxers have succeeded in becoming world champion in two weight classes!"

Brahmer retains WBO title

WBO light heavyweight champion Jürgen Brähmer (35-2, 28 KOs) won a bloody and hard fought twelve round unanimous decision over previously unbeaten Dmitry Sukhotsky (14-1, 9 KOs) on Saturday night at the Sport And Kongresshalle in Schwerin, Germany. Hometown favorite Brähmer, making his first defense, rocked Sukhotsky with a big straight left in round two and generally got the better of the exchanges for the first seven rounds. WBO #10 Sukhotsky, connected with the good shots in round eight, possibly the first round he won. The fight was on in the ninth as both fighters landed strong punches with the challenger doing more. Sukhotsky had his chance in round ten as he really worked over Brähmer and almost stopped the champion. Brähmer got a reprieve when referee Michael Ortega halted the action for the ring doctor to look at a deep cut over Brähmer's eye. Brähmer was able to recover during the pause and Sukhotsky never regained the advantage. Rounds eleven and twelve were good round for Brähmer, who dominated despite bleeding heavily. Scores were 116-112, 118-110, 116-112.
