Thoughts on this fight? My prediction is Stipe gets KO'd with first heavy shot Jones lands, I say this as Stipe's chin isn't what it used to be and he gets clipped more than enough in a fight. The only way he wins is to get Jones on the mat and keep him there with alot of wrestling, ground and pound, assuming he can get past Jones reach....

I hate Jones with a passion but I think he will KO Stipe.

I agree....
Shades of Mayweather V PacMan.

Fan of Stipe but he’s been inactive and fear he’s aged out. Hope I’m wrong, can’t stand Jones and thought he lost vs Gus way back when. He had a time as a Top P4P but that was also quite some time ago.

Jones is happy to fight a retired once goated heavyweight, but ducks a younger white fighter

I think he's more likely to get decisioned or even subbed, I just hope he can Randy Couture it and land some heavy shots on Jones.

He doesn’t want any of Tom Aspinall. Tom would flatten him in a minute.

I also think Aspinall would KO Jones very quickly, Pavlovich hits alot harder than Jones and Aspinall took Pavlovich's best shot then KO'd Pavolvich... there is no way Jones fights Tom.

They're both past their primes, old, and rusty, so I have no idea what to expect. I don't think either of these guys have fought since I learned how to pirate the PPVs. The race war fights always have some appeal, though.

Dana White has a man-crush on Jon Jones, and propping up the lore of a black fighter as the GOAT helps keep the UFC in line with other American pro sports. UFC is owned now by Endeavor, which also owns WWE. Just pointing that out.

I've seen some fast stoppages called and a few wonky scorecards, but overall, fights seem difficult to throw (way more than boxing, for example). It seems like the natural storylines (and the chalk betting lines) are that Jones retires Stipe, then Aspinall retires Jones. Everyone involved makes a lot of money. So, I'll predict that happens.

How can I put some money on Stipe? I think he is going to clean Jon's plow.

UFC 309: Jones Vs. Miocic

Main Card:

Heavyweight:Jon Jones (c)Vs.Stipe Miocic
Lightweight:Charles OliveiraVs.Michael Chandler
Middleweight:Bo NickalVs.Paul Craig
Women’s Flyweight:Viviane AraújoVs.Karine Silva
Catchweight (165 lb):Mauricio RuffyVs.James Llontop
Prelims:
Bantamweight:Jonathan MartinezVs.Marcus McGhee
Middleweight:Chris WeidmanVs.Eryk Anders
Lightweight:Jim MillerVs.Damon Jackson
Lightweight:David OnamaVs.Roberto Romero
Heavyweight:Marcin TyburaVs.Jhonata Diniz
Welterweight:Mickey GallVs.Ramiz Brahimaj
Welterweight:Bassil HafezVs.Oban Elliot
Women's Flyweight:Veronica HardyVs.Eduarda Moura

Here it is, Jones Vs. Miocic after a year long delay from Jones's pectoral injury. I am not optimistic about Stipe's chances due to a combination of age, mileage, layoff, judging and not knowing his level of motivation but lets hope Stipe can land the knockout punch! :partyhat:

I think that Stipe definitely has the heavier hands but if Jones clips him I believe Stipe's chin is weak and he goes night night. If Stipe lands a clean heavy shot Jones will go bye bye and hits the canvas hard......

I hate Jones and I hope Stipe knocks his cocky ass out!

I believe Bo will win by KO as well.

Damn Damon Jackson retires and declines an interview on his way out.

Jim Miller in his 45th UFC Fight wins his 27th, ridiculous endurance throughout his career. He’s never had a surgery. May be time to start mentioning him amongst All Time Great IronMen.

Stipe looked like Mike Tyson did the other day, he looked like a dinosaur and it seems he developed a new weakness to body strikes, more than his chin getting worse in that nearly four year interval, leading to a bizarre finish. He was moving as if he was made of stone and seemed fragile, Jones did not look like a spring chicken either. No wonder Jones wanted this fight.

Stipe was slow and occasionally blitzing like a zombie, no grappling or kicking for the most part, but he was landing, I was hoping Jones would make a mistake and eat a Stipe punch full on, but that moment never came and Stipe was mostly stationary.

The UFC shills were trying to make this look like a good fight and a good win, but anyone with eyes sees what it was. I reckon even current Ngannou would have beaten either fairly easily, or even some miscellaneous fighters such as e.g. Pav, Volkov.

This card was mostly mediocre, Bo was scared to shoot on slick submission artist Craig and won a cardio kickboxing match, he needs to do better If he wants to fight Khamzat. Chandler, getting up in years, off a layoff, nearly finished Oliviera late, but it was too little too late.

I honestly did not care about this fight, everyone knows this fight was just an excuse to duck Aspinall more than he already has at this point

Yes, the UFC was prostituting out an old retired fighter out as a gimme and "legacy" fight for their current darling. Even Stipe's tone during the post fight interview tells you all you need to know. The DWFs and black supremacists may have their moment, but he's the only black champ right now for a reason.

Now Jones should be forced to fight Aspinall and if he does I would hope there is no "outside influence" on the outcome...
Stipe should retire now not try to fight anymore as he has lost so much of who he was in the past.

If he fights on he is danger of becoming Ken Shamrock as the formula for success in your 40's is to be able to smother guys like Couture did and Stipe can't do that like he did and we saw him slowly get picked apart.

At some point Jones will get KTFO I don't care but you can't have a gut and have to over eat to be a 240 pound fighter and have the chin and natural strength to hold off a man a decade younger than you.

PS if Miocic can't read the writing on the wall and continues on the UFC will drop him from there roster at some point and he will have do it on the MMA equivalent of the tank town circuit ie small casinos and Indian reserves for very thin purses. MMA doesn't have fairytale purses like what we saw on Friday for the Paul vs Tyson debacle.

He unceremoniously retired after the fight, came back for a check and it showed, I wouldn't favor that version over much of the top 10 at HW anymore.

Jones is not going to stay much longer either it seems, given he said he wants "**** you money" to fight the number 1 contender, so it "doesn't matter whether he wins or loses".
