I've always liked much of Mellencamp's music. Politically, he's written some good populist songs like "Pink Houses" and done much for causes like "Farm Aid."

But -- his politics aredefinitely mostly of the left-wing, anti-white, hypocritical variety. He has been quoted as saying that all Americans should have to marry someone of a different race. This from a man who at the age of around 45 married a blonde, teenage supermodel. It doesn't get any more hypocritical than that.

I found this from an interview with Mellencamp in the latest issue of Rolling Stone:

Q.: When you were fourteen, you were singing James Brown songs.

A. F--- yeah! I was in a band called Crepe Soul. We were a James Brown jukebox. We had the short pants like James had, the high-waisted jackets and the thick-and-thin socks -- the whole bit. It was 1966 and we played everywhere. . .

Q.: Did you ever meet JB?

A.: I did the Tom Snyder show in 1978. I was just starting out, and we sucked a big dick, and we were on the show with James Brown and Muhammad Ali. Ali was the sweetest guy, but James was angry. I'm not kidding you, he scared me to death. He was having a fit in the hallway, yelling about "goddamn f'in whitey." When I heard him talk, though, I thought, "Yeah, f--- white people!"

F*ck that inbred, white trash, Indiana sh*theel. I hated when my dad used to play his crappy music when i was a kid, and he needs to just shut the f*ck up, and go screw a cow or whatever people out there in Indiana do. Sorry for the profanity, but I can't stand that POS, and I have to mute the channel every time I hear that "this is our country" song from that truck commercial they show 50,000 times during football games

Johny Couger's video for "Cherry Bomb" consists of a black guy slow dancing with a blonde next to a juke box. I wasn't particularly racialist at the time, but it disturbed me for some reason. I wondered what point the little feller was trying to make.

Yeah, John, f--- white people, right. I'm sure you were really down with the bros when you were growing up in rural Indiana.

Mellancamp wrote that "this is our country"? I hope our country is not a dying car company.

Jack will be getting laid off while Diane is getting laid by gangs soon.

Yeah, I still like Johnny Cougar's music but he bends over backward to kiss black ass.

Such a shame for a guy who's billed as a "rebel."

I'm not too familiar with John Mellan-fraud's music as a whole. I only remember one video of his that came out when I was a kid, called "Wild Night" or something like that. It featured some black female vocalist in it as well, which even at ten years old, set the light bulb off in my head. I knew he was a race-mixing toad and even as a youth, I was a wiley one.

What's most disturbing about all this is not that Mellancamp is an anti-white POS but that Don Wassall was reading Rolling Stone magazine !

Mellencamp burst upon the scene as "Johnny Cougar," with a Springsteen-like image and sound. He clearly wanted to portray the image of someone who was a "rebel" and came from "the streets." It was soon discovered that he was actually a member of the very wealthy Mellencamp family, which should have destroyed his "street cred," but somehow didn't, although he did start using the Mellencamp name. I've always thought he was a completely unoriginal artist, a much lamer version of Springsteen. He's probably comparable to a lightweight "rocker" like Bryan Adams. I remember another interview he did, years ago, where he also mentioned being "influenced" by James Brown, and bemoaned the fact that Brown had ever been sent to prison. His quote was something like, "man, you're talking about the King of Soul! In Prison! How can we put James Brown in prison?" Think of how idiotic these sentiments are. First of all, like Bob Dylan claiming he was "influenced" by Little Richard, the idea that someone who plays the kind of folk/rock/pop Mellencamp does could be "influenced" by the screeching howls of "soul" that Brown produced, is ridiculous. If he listened to Brown's "music," thank goodness he wasn't truly influenced to mimic it, or he'd have produced even crappier stuff than he did. I've challenged Dylan fans to tell me where Little Richard's "influence" can be found in his music, but they simply give you that vacant look that so many sheeple do when you introduce logic into a conversation. As for Mellencamp being outraged over Brown being in prison, this carries idolatry to the extreme. By this kind of reasoning, no musician who has ever produced truly great, timeless work (unlike James Brown) could ever be justly found guilty of any crime, because his contributions to society override the harm of any crimes he may commit. Okay, end of rant.

If James Brown never went to jail think about all of the arrest photos we would have missed after his frequent domestic abuse and drunk driving charges.......

Excellent post bigunreal! As for Sh*tallica, they haven't put out a decent album since 1988. Helloween, King Diamond, and Savatage own Sh*tallica

Ah, rich white kid who feels guilty about being rich. Makes perfect sense.
