I would like to see what my bros think of him. I thought he was very good, and underated. He was certinly explosive, and I thought he was very fun to watch. The MSM seemed to dismiss him as overated, but I dont know. He was 36-0-0 with 29 KOs. He beat guys with decent records. Gary Winman 25-2, Joey Guy 27-4, Jorge Louis Gonzalaz 31-6, Keith Mcknight 41-3, David Izon 27-4, Jason Curry 11-0, DaVarryl Williamson18-1, Monte Barret 29-2, Vassiliy Jirov 33-1,

Im no expert, but I dont think this guy was at all overated. 36-0 is pretty dogone good! If any of you fine gentleman would care to give yalls opinions, I would love to read it. I suppose I could be just riding the ''White banwagon'' too hard. IT seems like Mesi is a good guy, and maybe that makes me stick up for him even more. Whatdoyasay, fellas? Could he have hung with the big names? Or am I clinging to his good white guy from upstate NY flavor?Edited by: P-NutLane

Joe Mesi was a solid fighter. He probably wouldn't have won a belt but was a top 10 talent. What is going on with Joe anyway? I heard he is still going to fight.

Joe is in politics now. He won't box anymore.

Joe could have gotten a belt. The night he destroyed Williamson in one was his best performance in my opinion. You will hear a lot about how "overrated" Joe was/is, but it's all media trash. Joe was never given respect. The night he destroyed a then-top prospect in Williamson, Dominick Guinn won a 10 round decision over Duncan Dokiwari. Guinn got all the press coverage, and Mesi didn't get anything.

Against Jirov, Mesi took several bad rabit punches, which effectively ended his career. He fought and won a few since then, but it's not the same. So, to answer your question, yes, Joe certainly could have hung with alot of the big guys of this division (not the Klitschko's).

Joe is an eloquent speaker, knows the sport of boxing and an in my opinion, should have campaigned in the light heavyweight division. I like Joe and believe he was a good fighter. He would have been destroyed had he entered the ring against a Klitschko.

Joe lost the election to the NYS Senate to his republican challenger. I think the seat was open.

Joe a Democrat? Well he really must have got his brains scrambled by Jirov!
