Jean-Marie Le Pen founded the National Front of France, which was the most powerful nationalist political party in Europe since WWII and inspired the many nationalist-populist parties that now exist in Europe.

He had a falling out with his daughter Marine, who replaced him as the leader after he became elderly. Marine is more pragmatic and she rebranded and renamed her father's party National Rally and is still a major player in French politics, having run for the presidency of France three times, finishing third, second and second.

American nationalists who have been around for a while remember when Jean-Marie Le Pen was very well known and of course demonized in the U.S. and everywhere else in what's known as the West. He was a pioneer and a very courageous leader and politician who passed at the age of 96. RIP

Truly one of the great ones! I especially loved his Christian quote, "the Bible says to love your neighbor, not the people on the other side of the world."

A good article by Paul Craig Roberts on the current situation in France that focuses on the ongoing persecution of Marine Le Pen and National Rally:

Good to see PCR is still going strong and writing at 85 years young. I admit that I haven’t followed him closely in recent years but his commentary is always poignant. I’ll have to check his website periodically again.
