WA33, thanks for posting this. Ol' "Dugout Dick" was the last of a rare breed. Reminds me of another rarity...survivalist Richard Proenneke. I often think about living "off the grid" like these men. The grind/rat-race, a society of sheeple & a growing police-state are motivation to "escape it all"!

I'd never go that far, I'd rather live in small quiet towns or counties. It always beats the sodomized cities. Traveling on long & quiet country roads is another great experience. Still, RIP to Dugout Dick.

Here is a story about a guy who lived off the grid for 26 years plus. Of course he supported himself from theft.
