For far to long the NFL has set the standard for the best sports leauge by far in this country. However the athletes in the leauge have always been able to break the law and still play the game well not any more. The fact that Goodell has implemented new standards of how players must act on and off the playing fields means that the majority African American leauge will have many players get suspended or better yet never even get drafted, and in some instances even getting cut means more oppurtunities for white playersd who toe the company line, and follow the rules. I really think it is about time to coral the thug mentality that has overtaken this leauge. Goodell so far has had eveyones backing. I beleive that what he is doing is good for the leauge and the country just because you can run fast dosen't mean your above the law. The NFL will continue to be the most watched leauge with now hopefully the best behaved players.

Very true, White Power, you make valid points. This is a very positive thing. It will punish the criminals in the NFL who have always in the past been able to get away clean. Now kids will see that their role models aren't really worth looking up to hopefully. It sends kids a wrong message when guys like Pacman Jones committ felonies or Shawne Merriman is racked up on roids, and then they hardly get punished, are allowed to play, and receive all sorts of individual accolades. These guys get off basically scot free for obvious criminal offenses and why? Because they can play football! How ridiculous. The guys who are actually grateful for their blessed opportunity to play in the NFL and are smart enough to not jeopardize that will be able to play more. It's also true that an overwhelming majority of these criminal players are blacks. This should only lead to more white players playing. And even though only a few slots will be opened throughout the league, there's bound to be at least one white gem who'll finally get his chance to play and prove to everyone his star potential.......Hopefully

Hopefully this will mean that more coaches will be willing to take chances on white players being that blacks are more prone to get in trouble with the law. I love how Atlanta screwed themselves by jettisoning Matt Schaub for the black superman Mike Vick. If Vick is convicted and suspended, it will show these white-hating coaches what happens when 'ol whitey isn't around to do the job anymore

Figure now's as good a time as any to bring this thread back up again. 3 months after the last post Goodell seems to be doing a great job cleaning up the league!

PacMan Jones = out for the whole year
Tank Johnson = 8 games
Chris Henry = 8 games
Mike Vick = indefinite suspension (looking like 2-3 years??)

The posts above hit the nail on the head & Goodell's backed up his talk over the past few months. Who knows, eventually you may see more Brian Urlachers and less Ray Lewises because the owners will know they won't get screwed w/disciplinary problems down the road.

Anyway, Roger Goodell deserves kudos for his tough stance on miscreants.

Anthony Hargrove still has not faced ant league disciplinary action for assaulting a police officer in Rochester NY. He's been suspended for 1 month for failing a drug test, but allowed to play in the preseason.
