In this thread, you can post articles, links, or relevant news, good or bad, about homeschooling. Here's the happy result of a story I read about some time ago. A White German family has been granted asylum in Tennessee so they can home-school their 5 children. This story is from James Edwards' blog. Homeschooling was instrumental in the founding of the United States and is an ever more attractive option to multicultural government indoctrination centers (public schools) as well as secular private schools. Even while the number of school age children in America drops, due in large part to less marriage and more selfishness, homeschooling is growing in popularity, with around 2 Million children now learning at home.

It's
a proud day for America, which has fewer and fewer of them, and a
day of shame for Germany.

In a decision bound to send a shock wave through the
European Union, a federal immigration judge today granted political
asylum in the United States to a German family whose members feared
persecution if returned to their home country because of their decision
to homeschool.

"We can't expect every country to follow our Constitution,"Â￾ said the
opinion by Judge Lawrence O. Burman. "The world might be a better place
if it did.

"However, the rights being violated here are basic human rights that
no country has a right to violate,"Â￾ he said.

The decision in the Memphis, Tenn., hearing grants permission to Uwe
and Hannelore Romeike and their five children to remain in the U.S.,
according to the Virginia-based Home School Legal Defense Association,
which has been working on the family's case.

WND previously reported on the request by the family.

"This decision finally recognizes that German homeschoolers are a
specific social group that is being persecuted by a Western democracy,"Â￾
said Mike Donnelly, staff attorney and director of international
relations for HSLDA.

"It is embarrassing for Germany since a Western nation should uphold
basic human rights, which include allowing parents to raise and educate
their own children. This judge understood the case perfectly and he
called Germany out. We hope this decision will cause Germany to stop
persecuting homeschoolers,"Â￾ he said.

Unfortunately, this probably isn't the beginning of a trend.
Homeschooling is flourishing in America right now, but its days are
numbered unless we get off the Diversity craze. The vast majority of
kids who go to school at home are white, and that is not going to be
tolerated much longer. Diversity has become the be all and end all of
education in this country, and homeschooling is positively
anti-Diversity. In Houston, they shut down an entire high school of
2500 kids because a handful of blacks couldn't cut the mustard. In
Berkeley, CA, they're talking about getting rid of science labs because
black and brown kids aren't interested in science and don't do well at
it. Anything that allows white kids to outperform black and brown kids
has to be destroyed in the name of Diversity, and home schooling will be
no exception. Unless homeschoolers wake up and realize that their
battle is a racial battle, they can never hope to win in the long run.

Bad news for homeschooling in Louisiana. They shot down the idea to allow home-schooled students to play sports at their local public school.

"Principals overwhelmingly voted it down.

'Why should someone who comes to my school everyday all day long be bumped from the team by someone who no buy into my school other than to come for athletics," says LHSAA President School Principal Kenneth Delcambre.'"

At least they raised academic requirements. Louisiana high school athletes now have to pass 6 classes and have a 2.0 gpa. Before they only had to have a 1.5 gpa and pass 5 out of 6 classes.

Still, public schools in Louisiana are terrible. It's either send your child to a private school or do homeschooling.

"other than to come for athletics" These people still pay taxes for education services that they do not use, at least let them get something for their money and allow their kids to play sports, otherwise give the money back.

The fact is, most of these homeschooling parents are still paying taxes in the communities where those teachers and coaches live. In other words, they are being payed by the people they are turning away.
