From what I've read at other sites Reilly was bothered that Morneau was picked for a remaining spot instead of a Black or Hispanic.Ha ha, Morneau ends up winning the event! Hamilton put on a heckuva show.

The discrimination was pretty thinly veiled throughout this week. Many sports analysts commented on the lack of "true sluggers" in the Derby this year. That's pretty obvious code for "too many white guys."

I think the contestants in the Derby this year show a shift in the demographic of good hitters in the MLB. The overweight "sluggers" are becoming more inconsistent and smart hitters are coming back to form. Many white hitters are prospering this year, and I think the trend will continue.Edited by: PhillyBirds

I posted a prediction here at Caste Football that Josh Hamilton would win the Home Run Derby. As far as I am concerned, I was right.

What a incredible display of power and being in a zone. He just made a legion of fans across the country. I hope he's the MVP in the game tonight.

oh, and a white guy now has the record for home runs in one round.

... maybe there needs to be a free throw shooting contest during the NBA Finals.
