I just wanted to mention these very underrated
players. I was looking at their stats and John
Havlicek's best season was 70-71. He had 28.9
ppg, 9.0 rbp, and 7.5 apg. Wow.

And also Dave Cowens, who averaged 17.6 ppg and
a whopping 13.6 rpg over his career (including two
seasons where he averaged 16+ rpg). Two Celtic
greats.

I was a big Celtic fan back then, just a kid, but there was something about them I liked more then the other teams......what could it have been????

I saw the Celtics play in person twice in the early 70s. Havlicek would run and run, moving without the ball. His opponents couldn't keep up with him.

Cowens is underappreciated. He was the epitome of tenacity. Not only a great athlete and knowledgeable on how to play the game, he always gave all-out effort no matter what the score or situation was. He only cared about his team getting the next basket and preventing the opponent from scoring.

I neglected to mention Cowens in my above post. He would give 7 foot centers a lot of trouble by all-out hustle, plus an excellent outside shot.
