I love the way George Brett charges out of the dugout! Can watch that over and over, and did back when it happened as it was a huge story. Brett was a big-time alpha and a great all-around player.

George Brett! Need more White alphas like him! I remember that vividly. Still fun to watch, but I hated that it happened against the Yankees...
Seriously, more White alphas in all sports would make a lot of them more worthwhile to watch again.
On those same lines, one of the reasons Blacks from the past NBA still respect Larry Bird is because he was stone-cold alpha. Ice water in his veins and cold blooded to the core. All Blacks seemingly know is "the whip" so to speak. Brett was the same from what I can remember and his teammates respected him.

Listened to the game live on the radio in my bedroom back in '83. Couldn't believe it. Ran outside to tell my father who was working in the yard.

Brett, the only player in MLB history to lead the league in hitting in three different decades!
George Brett was my favorite player. Clutch and competitive as hell. He was exceptional at stretching singles into doubles, and doubles into triples. In 1979 he hit 20+ doubles, triples and homeruns, joining the rare 20-20-20 club (7 members). 1980 was the exciting chase to hit .400...ended the season at .390. The Royals lost to the Yankees in the ALCS each year from ‘76 to ‘78. Made it to the World Series in 1980, but lost. In 1985 he finally got his World Series ring.
Nothing but a pure winner who carried the Royals franchise. The pine tar incident was so intense because it involved the hated Yankees, Goose Gossage and Billy Martin. Glory days of baseball, for sure.
