Thanks WCB. After his dismantling of Sylvia (who beat AA 2x), I think Fedor's going to TKO or sub AA (2nd round). I'd like to see the Barnett v. Fedor matchup as well.

Good test for Fedor.

Can't wait for the Barnett/ Yvel fight.

Getting way ahead here but if everything lines up correctly and Fedor is able to beat both Arlovski and Barnett in '09...wow.

I wish Fedor would go to the UFC just so he'd be a household name. He's the baddest man on the planet but only MMA junkies know of him.

I think he handles Arlovski in the 1st round.

Maybe Fedor-Lesnar in 2010?

So how bout some predictions for the fight fellas...I'm going with, obviously, a 1st Rd Fedor submission. To be more specific I'll say 2:30 into the fight.

I have always been a big Arlovski fan. Some really motivational clips are below. High Quality of Andre training.

Anyway, I think Fedor in great. However, I feel that Arlovski has greatly improved. More importantly, I believe Arlovski's head is finally right. I see this being the new beginning for Arlovski.I truly believed that the world is gonna be shocked when Arlovski knocks out Fedor. Fedor is great, but I feel that stylistically this is a very bad matchup for Fedor. I see Arlovski stopping him late.

AA is quicker & more athletic, but Fedor has an iron chin, heavy hands & world-class sambo. If Fedor tries to stand too long, there's a chance he might get caught by a big shot or combo from AA...but it's doubtful. Fedor has vicious G&P and solid submissions.Edited by: DixieDestroyer

In all honestly Fedor may very well win. However, I am picking AA for 4 main reasons.
1) EVERYONE in MMA loses eventually, Fedor has had a great undefeated run and may be due for a loss.

2) Stylistically it will take a big strong athletic striker with a bit of submission to defeat Fedor. Arlovski fits that bill.

3) Arlovski, while I believe is in most instances a inferior fighter to Fedor finally has his head right. I think AA had some personally problems a while back and it showed in his performances. He is now BACK mentally.

4) Arlovski is on a terror right now. Three consecutive KO's. He completely outclassed Ben Rothwell. While Ben Rothwell is no Fedor Emilianenko, he is a quality fighter who was destroyed by AA.Edited by: aussieaussie31

These are two of my five favorite fighters in the world. If Fedor wins, it increases his legend and reaffirms his status as the best MMA fighter. If Arlovski wins, this vaults him so far in the stratosphere that he can write his own ticket. It also sets up a rematch. I just hope for a hell of a fight no matter who wins. The cold stare of Fedor versus the vicious fangs of Arlovski. Great white warriors!

There is no way AA beats Fedor. I'm sorry. He won once and lost TWICE vs. Tim Sylvia, who Fedor beat in less than a minute. Arlovski is all stand up game. Fedor's ground game and world class submission moves will be the end for Andre.

You are probably right that Fedor wins this matchup. I expect him too. But this is MMA and upsets are so commonplace that the word can hardly be used anymore. Arlovski has a punchers chance and he is the better athlete but not by as much as he is getting credit for.

I really like both guys (in fact they are two of my favorite heavyweights of all time), but I am definately for Fedor in this fight. Arlovski wants to switch to boxing anyway, so it is more important for Fedor to win.

In saying that, I've got this feeling that Arlovski is going to shock the world tonight. I like him, but I hope I'm wrong (and Fedor wins). Still, I hope is a great fight for both!

SPOILER ALERT...

Fedor KO's AA 3 mins plus in the 1st round...proving (once again) he's not only the best HW, but the best P4P fighter in the world...NOT Anderson Silva!!!

...In the other fights...

- Dan Lauzon subs Green
smiley1.gif

- Buentello beat Sidellnelov (ref stoppage)
smiley18.gif

- Babalu subs Sokodoju
smiley36.gif

- Belfort KTFO's Lindland (badly...1st round)
smiley18.gif

- Barnett beats Yvel (tap out from strikes)

Some notes...

Kiril needs to drop to LHW. The kid has an iron chin & heavy right hand, but needs to work takedowns & subs more (shouldn't have stood up with Buenotello). Looks like Barnett will be next for Fedor. Josh is stronger/bigger, but I think he'll get KO'd (if he stands) & sub'd if it goes to the mat. I don't see Fedor losing anytime soon...he's a machine! Edited by: DixieDestroyer

Told you guys. Fedor KO 1 over Arlovski. Baddest man on the planet and #1 p4p in MMA. Give Lesnar a year or two and he may be the next real challenge for Fedor.

My .02...

Fedor/ Arlovski: The story of the fight imo was that one man was patient and the other was not. Andrei was doing well but when he needed to stick with his plan the most he got wild and Fedor made him pay. Fedor showed a lot of patience and poise by not rushing in with those wild bombs that he throws. He waited for AA to screw up.

Barnett/ Yvel: Josh should have won this thing in Rd 1. Christ, Yvel spent almost the entire fight on his back with Barnett on top of him. That last takedown was awesome.

Belfort/ Lindland: Poor Lindland. Vitor seems like a good fit at 185. Much more nimble. Didn't care for all of his celebrating while Lindland was still out. He never even checked to see if Matt was okay. Poor sportsmanship imo.

Babalu/ Soku: After his two big Pride wins Soku has come back down to earth. Babalu has a nasty submission game.

Lauzon/ King: Free nut-shots for everyone! Three I think before King was finally choked out. Well done Lauzon.

From a caste perspective the night went very well for us. 2-0. 3-0 if you count Babalu. Although Soku seems like a decent guy.

I saw a couple things differently than the Poach. One is that I felt Belfort was very respectful after the KO, once he realized that Lindland was badly hurt. They focused on him and his corner several times while medical personnel were attending to Lindland, and he seemed concerned to me.

I felt that Dan Lauzon was faking the nut shots. He was getting his ass handed to him by a guy who took the fight on two days notice. The first kick hit Dan along what's called the 'belt', or the waistband of the trunks; the second at the apex of the thigh with the groin; and the third, his upper thigh was grazed by the guy's toenail. Dan grabbed the bottom of his sack every time, even though none of the strikes ever connected with that area of his groin. He's lucky to have gotten away with the win.

Soakajew sucks. Despite his 'amazing' athleticism, he was getting out struck on the feet by Babalu, and was submitted with the same move with which he lost his fight to Machida. And this guy was an Olympic judoka? There's a reason he was cut from the UFC. And they said during the fight that he also wants to become a pro boxer! LOL!!

And memo to Freddie Roach and Co: Please do not allow Andre Arlovski to become a heavyweight boxer. Do not let him pursue this course of action. He is delusional. Roach actually said that he feels Arlovski will be ready for one of the Klitschko's in one year! GTFO!!!

Fedor just has that something that forces him to win. I don't really know what you could call it. Joe Montana of American Football had it. Wayne Gretzky had it. Pete Rose the great American baseball player had it. Marciano had it. It is as though fate assures the success of the person. I believe Joe Calzaghe has it as well.(Alot of hard work and determination from the individual as well). Truly a great fighter. I like both AA and Fedor alot. The best man won.

Vitor belfort looked good. I remember him first breaking onto the UFC stage with a devestating KO of Wanderlei Silva. Vitor was quite skilled but seemed to gas late in fights. At 205 he had above average strength. At 185 he appears to be much stronger than his opponents. Training with Randy Couture would not hurt either. (Especially in the conditioning department) It will be interesting to see how far Vitor can go. I am kind of rooting for him to do well. Who knows, with his striking ability he could be dangerous to a certain 185 pounder in the UFC.

I saw the video of Fedor vs Arlovski. Arlovski looked alright throwing 1-2's and even hit Fedor with some hard shots. A minute later after the first long clinch Arlovski threw a front kick that pushed Fedor into a corner. Arlovski went to throw a high knee but dropped his hands to do it for momentum and...BANG...Fedor threw a counter overhand right that was heard around the world. Arlovski went down limp; Arlovski knocked himself out. Arlovski made two big mistakes: he dropped his hands and he left his feet. Fedor looked over him as if to say: "That's what they all think". It was just too bad Arlovski was not a Jackson or Williamson. Oh boy! I do not think that big man from the U.S., Lesnar, will ever be ready to beat Fedor.

Fedor had tried to time Arlovski for that overhand right a couple of times earlier in the round before he connected. It was only a matter of time.

Arlovski has been KO'd five times now in his career.

Once again Fedor showed one of his greatest strenghts as a fighter that is rarely talked about: his precision punching. Most fighters who pack a wallop like Fedor tend to miss their spots sometimes when going for a haymaker. Fedor whether punching standing up or on the ground striking is always so incredibly accurate with his punches. He hits his targets where he wants to ALWAYS. This man is the total package. I cannot wait for whatever lame excuse/quote homoass Dana White will have this time as to why Fedor isnt the best.

Folks we are witnessing the best fighter in MMA history right before our eyes. He's the Wayne Gretzky, Jim Brown, Roacky Marciano or his sport all rolled into one. Let's enjoy the show while he's still in his prime.
