I read on Dan Rafael's chat today that Valery Brudov (WBA #1 contender) will likely be facing Guillermo Jones in July for the WBA cruiserweight title.

There was a rumor of Jones-Mormeck, but it now seems like that won't be happening.

I think Grigory Drozd (WBA #2) is a little better than Brudov, but with either one, we'll have a good chance of seeing another white world champion.

Ismailov looks middle-aged.

Ramirez appears naturally bigger and stronger, and we saw how aggressive he is in the Alexeev fight. And he'll have the vocal Argentinian crowd behind him.

I can't imagine Ismailov winning this one.

Ali Ismailov outboxed the crude, aggressive Ramirez for most of the fight, but somehow Victor Emileo Ramirez retained his title with a split decision win.

Here's a livestream for Ismailov-Ramirez here, good quality:

Ramirez vs. Ismailov

The fight will start in about five minutes or so.
Thanks for the link. I only watched the first 5 rounds of the fight so I can't say whether it was a fair result or not. A bunch of people say Ismailov got robbed.

Today in Germany Enad Licina 17-1(10) defeated previously undefeated Mexican Ignacio Esparza by decision.

Also on the same card undefeated Ukrainian Alexander Frenkel knocked out Rodolfo De Dominicis in the third round. Frenkel improves to 18-0(14).

Nice win today - Drozd became the first to stop the durable Wilson!

We should give Drozd a thread of his own now.

Licina vs. Hernandez is an interesting, competitive matchup. Sauerland rarely used to have their better fighters face each other, but they are doing it twice this fall, the other one being Helenius vs. Dettweiler.

From fightnews

Red hot cruiserweight prospect Alexander Frenkel (19-0, 15 KOs) thrilled the local crowd with an explosive one-punch knockout of Hungarian journeyman Laszlo Hubert (22-5, 13 KOs). WBC #13 Frenkel slowly chased his scared opponent around the ring, looking for a single punch. Hubert did little to create him any problems, just running hopelessly from his stronger foe. Early in round three Frenkel connected with a right hand, pinning Hubert to the ropes and then suddenly threw a frightening left hook, that landed flush on Hungarian's chin. Hubert fell face first to the canvas and the fight was stopped without a count. It took Hubert a couple of minutes to fully regain his consciousness.

Frenkel fought again today.

From Fightnews
Rising cruiserweight star Alexander Frenkel (20-0, 16 KOs) scored his second stoppage win in a week and will ceratinly improve his WBC #13 rank in the upcoming ratings. Frenkel was considerably better than Hungarian Jozsef Nagy (21-5, 14 KOs) but his opponent was never in a danger of being stopped or even knocked down. However, late in round two Nagy threw a left hand and seemingly hurt or even broke it. Nagy's corner stopped the action right after that during the break. TKO 2 for hard-hitting Frenkel.

From Fightnews

Up-and-coming WBC #10 and IBF #14 ÑÂÂ￾ruiserweight contender Alexander Frenkel (21-0, 17 KOs) annihilated former IBF cruiserweight champion Kelvin "Koncrete"Â￾ Davis (24-11-3, 17 KOs) in the very first round. Frenkel beat Davis to the punch with a series of shots both to the head and body. Davis was not visibly shaken, but referee Ingo Barrabas stopped this fight a bit early at 2:07 of the first. Another sound statement on Frenkel's behalf, while Davis should seriously consider retirement after another blowout.
