He fights Mercer on Saturday in Macau. Is he a white heavyweight? The name sounds Italian but the Italian version of the name is spelled Rossi. I think he is Puerto Rican myself.Edited by: white is right

He a white-looking Puerto Rican. He's big and strong but he's not good enough to ever be a contender. I watched the smaller Eddie Chambers knock him out on ESPN last year.

Rossy is half white (Italian) and half Puerto Rican. He used to be a LB at Boston College. A good ESPN-type heavyweight and nothing more.

He was actually stopped on cuts against Chambers.

It was a technical KO. Chambers had been putting quite a beating on him. I remember Rossy staggering back and holding up his arms, putting his head down and the referee waving his arms.

Former linebacker? That would explain his poor skills. He's not exactly an name Chambers would want to boast about.

Derrick Rossy, Derrick Rossy, Derrick Rossy....(It was the chant when local hero Rossy was sliced to shreds by doughy Chambers). As per fightnews... Rossy defeats Mercer in Macau!
Current New York State heavyweight titleholder Derric Rossy (18-1, 10 KOs) scored a twelve round unanimous decision over former WBO heavyweight champion "Merciless" Ray Mercer (35-7-1, 26 KOs) on Saturday night at the Venetian Resort in Macau, China. Rossy had Mercer in trouble several times during the fight, but Mercer came back to floor Rossy in the final round. "I was off balance and he hit me," said Rossy, "my hats off to this guy Ray Mercer could beat anybody in our division, he's tough and can hit like hell." The knockdown was too little, too late for Mercer, however, as Rossy came away victorious by scores of 117-111, 117-111, 115-113. The win earned Rossy the NABO, WBF, and WBC Asia titles. 6,000 plus where on hand for the event. "Don King and Bob Arum tried to bring Boxing here," said Sal Musumeci President and CEO of Final Forum Boxing. "Not only did we bring it here we leave here with a new champion with his eyes set on one of the world champions!"

It seems as if Ray Mercer is hell-benton embarrassing himself in this part of the world. I live in Japan and Mercer got the stuffing kicked out of him by a Japanese K-1 fighterlast year.

AJapanese guy kicks his butt and a white guy does, too.

But if you go to YouTube, it seems like all the blacks and wiggers out there wantto believe Ray is somekind of superman because he beat a young, inexperienced Tommy Morrison with the help of an incompetent referee.

"Merciless" Ray Mercer-yeah, right. Larry Holmes must have been a real superman to beatMercer when he was past 40 years of age.

Maybe the nickname is jinxed now, so Mike Mollo would do well to stop using it, too.

I would show solidarity to Rossy because of who he is, but I would not get carried away about his abilities and chances. "Not only did we bring it here we leave here with a new champion with his eyes set on one of the world champions!" That's his promoter talking. Since Rossy was beaten-up by that little guy Chambers, he has no chance at all against the champions and top challengers. But good luck to him and I hope he can make some good money.
