Brave men sacrificed their lives for what reason?

<DIV id=post_message_3974278>On this date, March 6, 1836, the Alamo fell after a 13 day siege. 183 defenders (nearly all of them White), led by Colonel Jim Bowie and Lieutenant Colonel William B. Travis, held off a 6,000 man Mexican army for almost two weeks while Sam Houston organized his army. These defenders knew they were going to die and fought anyway, refusing to surrender. Their sacrifice led to the eventual Texian victory in the Texas Revoution and independence for Texas.

Symbolically, Whites today face a similar predicament as they did in that epic 1836 battle-overwhelming numbers of nonwhites. If things continue the way they are, Whites will be outnumbered far worse than the Whites that died at the Alamo.

It took the Mexican army three charges to ultimately overwhelm the Alamo in the final assault of the garrison.

The men and women who settled Texas and fought for its freedom were some of the toughest people on earth. I am afraid today's variety are made of lesser stuff than those good people.

I just saw the movie "The Alamo" on TNT a few days ago. What those men fought and died for we are giving away today. We dishonor their memories and sacrifice by doing so.

Texas was founded principally by virile, energetic whites. While it is true that some Hispanics decided to throw in their lot with the whites--which is fine--, what stands out in the founding of the Texas Republic is the leadership role played by the whites--esp. Houston and Travis--and the extraordinary sense of white solidarity which helped to constitute the Republic.

Now we have millions of illegal mexican immigrants entering Texas every year--Is this what Travis and Crockett died for?

They died for their country. Unfortunately, this country is not worth dying for anymore.

This is why Mexicans call it "Reconquista" the reconquering of Texas, California and the entire American West.

The people who settled Texas were tough, tough, tough, they had to be to settle here. The Mexicans and Spainards before them, preferred to stay in the long-settled areas to the south and wanted to use the white settlers to hold the territory where their flag was barely planted. Problem was the "Ringtailed Roarers" and "Rough and Readies" that came into Texas would not let anyone mess with their God-given rights, as the Mexicans tried to do (Anahuac, the Turtle Bayou Resolutions).

The flag that flew above the Alamo was a Mexican tri-color (green-white-red) with "1824" inscribed in the white section for the year that the Liberal (19th century version) constitution was adopted by Mexico and Santa Anna. Santa Anna was also the man who tore it up to install a dictatorship.
