Despite practically 90% of the show televising white cops in pursuit of black suspects, the only racially oriented remark I heard was in reference to a white man in a pickup truck fleeing from the police.

The host of the show repeatedly referred to the white man in the truck as a "boozed up redneck." I am still waiting for the day when he says, "the crackhead spade in the stolen Cadillac...." Edited by: White Shogun

That is a good thing they don't do stuff like that. Could you imagine the riots if they dropped the N-bomb on COPS?
COPS is a great show BTW. I love hearing the people try to explain to the cops that the dope isn't theirs.

Actually, this show originally featured mostly black criminals being
chased by mostly white cops, which is pretty much the case in the real
world. However, over time the number of black criminals has dwindled
gradually so that if you watch any recent broadcasts, you will be hard
pressed to find any of them. Apparently, there were some protests from
the usual suspects about too many blacks being shown as criminals, and
thus the program now features white trash almost exclusively. It is
interesting to note that the crimes the cops on this show now
investigate are extremely low-level in nature, which is what you'd
expect when you limit the criminals to whites.
