Wanted to throw out some names of good white
college bball players to look out for this year. Feel
free to mention anybody I've missed:

Adam Morrison GONZAGA (this guy's got talent. He
could be a taller Luke Jackson)
JJ Reddick DUKE
Travis Diener MARQUETTE
Gerry MacNamara SYRACUSE
Luke Schenser GEORGIA TECH
Jeff Horner and Erek Hansen IOWA
And a special mention to Patrick Sparks KENTUCKY,
a white starter on a Tubby Smith team! Wow! And of
course he's a Kentucky boy who wasn't recruited by
either UK or UofL. Surprise surprise.

(I wonder if it's a coincidence that most of the good
white players in college bball are either point guards
or centers.... I guess all the athletic six and half foot
tall white guys out there are playing volleyball or
some other sport.)

How about Gonzaga beating Georgia Tech last
night? Morrison had about 28-29 points, I believe.

MacNamara is one hell of a shooter.JJ Reddick has been the leader on a great Duke team for a long time now.I think he will continue to excell at the next level. Two
names you missed are David Lee of Florida. He is 6'9 and
has a 40 inch vertical.Than you have Henry Bekkering of
Eastern Washington State. He is the one that can hit his
head on the rim,he can do every dunk that Kobe and Vince
can do.By the way,David Lee won the National High School
Slam Dunk Contest a couple of years ago.

I forgot the Florida guys, Matt Walsh, too. I've checked on
Bekkering a few times this season and he's had a shoulder
injury that he's just coming back from. He's a redshirt
freshman so he may be a year or two away from being a star
for his team. It's too bad he plays for such a small school. I'd
like to see him on a more prominent white-friendly team like
Florida or Gonzaga.

If David Lee makes it to the NBA, I wonder if he'll play small
forward instead of power forward. That may be his natural
position. He seems like more of a finesse player rather than a
guy who bangs in the paint. It seems like there are a lot of
those "in-betweener" white forwards who don't transition well
from college to the NBA They're either not quite big and
physical enough to be an NBA power forward, or not quite
quick and agile enough to be an NBA small forward. He clearly
has athletic ability, so he may become a good three in the NBA
someday. He also slimmed down in the offseason, so he and
his coaches have probably realized that he should be using
that athleticism rather than trying to be a "big guy."

Gonzaga beat another top team last night, Oklahoma State.
Georgia Tech and Oklahoma State were both ranked #3 when
the Zags beat them. Morrison had another solid game. I really
like his game. He's a deadly shooter and can create off the
dribble. He's also tall, which will help a lot if he plays in the
NBA. And he's only a sophomore.

two other players to look at are Shavlic Randolph of Duke and kevin bookout of oklahoma

Randolph- is a junior and has put up great nubers and a supporting player. has struggled early thins year but looks to be coming out of it.

Kevin Bookout- he is 6-9 and 280 pound he was also a hammer and shot put thrower on the track team. he was injuried for most of last year and i don't know if he is even on the team this year but he is a former high school all american.

In the most recent issue of The Sporting News, I was reading a mini-feature called "Scouts Views" on college basketball players.

It starts off like this: "Miami guard Rob Hite's athleticism is off the charts." I'm usually pretty accurate at guessing backgrounds after all these years of following the caste system. Rob Hite -- sounds white, right? Plus, unlike its football program, Miami does recruit and play some whites on its basketball team. A white player being described as having "athleticism off the charts"??? Amazing.

Maybe I've been too hard on the media, I was thinking to myself. Or maybe this somehow slipped by the censors. Just googled "Rob Hite" and of course he is black. . . oh, well!
