On April 14th in Stuttgart,Germany Nikolai Valuev will defend his title against Ruslan Chagaev. It should be a good fight BUT I do not look forward to it!! I don't like to see two good white fighters meet in the ring,I guess it's good for boxing and now that the Eastern Europeans have run most of the blacks out of boxing, we will see more and more of these kind of fights. Vitali is going to fight Oleg Maskaev from what I have heard. The loser most likely will be done with boxing which is sad because I like both Vitali and Oleg.
Who do you men pick between Valuev and Chagaev?

I don't relish seeing two white fighters square off either. Chagaev is a powerful puncher who can hurt anybody, but he is so much smaller than Valuev, he may not be able to get inside or reach him. Valuev should win .

Ruslan Chagaev is as tough as they come, but Valuev is about a foot taller, so Chagaev has to rely on body rather than head punches. I don't see how Chagaev can win, he's smaller than most heavyweights, and Valuev should be able to connect with hard punches.

There's two other heavyweight fights the same night, April 14. At the Hughes Center in Russellville, Arkansas, Joe Mesi will be up against Marvin Hill, and the excellent American heavyweight prospect JD Chapman (25-0, age 24) will be fighting on the same card.

Then on Wednesday April 18, American heavyweight Paul Marinaccio (22-2-2) will face Chris Byrd (39-3-1) in the Bahamas. Two of Bryd's three losses came at the hands of Wladimir Klitschko.

I don't like the idea of Oleg and Vitali fighting each other either, since I'm a fan of both.

But there's another fight on June 2, the red-haired Russian Sultan Ibragimov vs Shannon Briggs, and I'm hoping Sultan takes the WBO title!

If anyone wants to see an entertaining and amusing fight

watch Ibragimov vs big Lance Whitaker (the bigger they come the harder they fall) on YouTube. (Do a search for "Ibragimov Whitaker", it will bring up the video of the fight.) Edited by: JD1986

Valuev is a solid -280 betting favorite I think he should coast to a tough win. He is so much larger than Chagaev. But you never know I thought the "gay" Puerto Rican out hustled Valuev when they fought..

I'm sure we all hate the idea of the Russians fighting each other but after I thought about it a while imagine how proud the Russian (and all the Slavic people) must be to be having ONLY their own people fighting for the belt. What a huge slap in the face to the reputation of the formerly great USA and the black mercenaries that we once sent around the world to fame and fortune as heavyweight champs!

This has got to be seen in Russia as a major turning point in their society. And it is. No Americans, no blacks, just the sons of Mother Russia duking it out for the title of worlds best. I wish them the best.

I thought about that, too. On paper, Valuev has the clear advantage. But Ruiz gave him a tough time, by all accounts. I expect Valuev to win, but as the saying goes, "that's why they fight."

I dont think Chagaev has too much of a chance. Valuev is solid champion. He has greatly improved since his fight against Ruiz, and Valuev will continue to improve since he is a late comer to the sport.

Valuev is not on the same level as the Klitschko brothers, however he is number three on my top ten list.

Could any of us have imagined a title fight contested between two WHITE fighters even three years ago? This my friends is progress. Valuev should win the based on his size and punching power.

Wait a minute!!! Did I just equate a white athlete with strength and power? According to MSM, this cannot exist. This is physically impossible!!!
